flaxseed's Journal, 23 August 2011

My journal today has some good and some not so good news. At around lunchtime the post dropped through the door with what I thought was some advertising junk so I didn't open it for a while, but when I did it was an interim cheque from one of the solicitors. Almost as much as a year's salary when I was at work. After a bit (quite a bit) of whooping and dancing I hot footed it to the bank to pay it in.

I was then able to go to the undertakers and pay the bill for OH's funeral and collect his ashes. I am going to scatter half of them at Scot's View which was his favourite place up here and the other half are going to go to the local church where the rest of his family are buried.

My girls are on holiday in Rhodes so I threw caution to the wind and probably spent an arm and a leg phoning them to give them my news.

Its so nice to have some good things happening. Long may it last although it is tinged with sadness.

Thanks for your comment over at "my place" today. You, of course, are so right. I'm so happy you received some money!! And even though paying for the funeral and collecting your husband's ashes was sad it was also such an important part of closure ... being able to honor him in his passing. So ... in his honor ... I will make the most of my man ... with his gnat-like patience ... knowing he will not always be with me and that I will miss him terribly when he is gone. Wanted to say your chart is looking quite splendid these days ... nice downward trend!!! Good for you!!

What a relief!! So glad the money arrived and one burden is off your back. I too think it's a good thing to be able to pay the bills and finish some of the things that you had to wait on.Indeed- long may the good things last...and the tinge of sadness diminish over time.
