how did u lose I,m trying my best but nothing

How have I done it.. Well, I have eaten a lot of salads--really.. That is my only "cheat" food that I have-- I do get the munchies alot, and before I started this journey- I would eat 6 to 8 snack cakes in one sitting.. that is all out now.. I am trying to watch my calorie intake as much as I can-- my right knee is shot, so I can not really do any excerises-- Couple of things you might want to keep in mind, if you are having trouble losing weight: 1. Right now do not focus on losing weight (yes I know it is hard!).. but focus on your eating habits. 2. Are you hungry? or Are you eating to find "comfort"? or Calming your nerves? If you are eating to find comfort, or neveousness, or being bored... yes it is better for you to find the "cause" behind it and deal with it.. But, in the mean time.. if you are going to eat... do not choice the normal comfort foods-- chocolate.. but choice healthier foods..(for me it has been salads)... If you need something "chocolate", I have used fiber one products.. and limit myself to "one" small serving.. 3. KEEP COUNT OF WHAT YOU ARE EATING! Very important! If you have an android cell/ or an Iphone.. down load fatscret app! You might say, well I know that calories at resturants.. you would be surprised-- I have been on this new journey for eight months now.. and I am still suprised on how many calories there is in foods!.. My wife gets tired of me pulling out my cell and record everything that goes into my mouth... 4. Remember that we are in the winter months.. your body will not lose as much as it would be during the spring and summer months.. The body is naturally trying to store fat for the cold weather.. do not get discouraged.. keep doing what is right.. 5. Do not compare yourself to others.. Since I am a man, it is easier for me to lose the weight than a lady..that Is how God created us... is it fair.. nope I admit it.. it is not fair..but stick doing what is right.. eventually the pounds will come off.. 6. IT IS A LIFE STYLE CHANGE, not a diet.. a diet, once you reach your goal.. the tendency is to slack off.. thus the weight will come back on.. feel comfortable what you are eating, how much you are eating.. to last a life time.. You did not come to this place over night, and there is no quick fix.. discipline.. steadfastness will win the day for you... 7. Talk to your doctor bout how many calories you should be eating.. I strongly suggest that you do not go under 1200-- your body will go into starvation mode, and will really try to store fat--and it will be nonproductive.. 8. Excerise if you can.. For me, it has been amazing to me, and those around me on how my body is reacting to this new life style--- I know that I am the exception to the normal rule... not sure why.. that is.. but I know that I am.. FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS.. on eating right.. right now during the winter months once again.. it is harder to lose the weight... easier said than done I know... HOpe this helps.. I am no expert on dieting.. or changing your life style..

Congrats to you Roger. You say you are the exception to the rule and don't know why that is, but you outlined why in everything else you said, because you're doing it the right way and taking it as a long term permanent change, not a temporary thing. A mini-course in how to do it, great advice. Soon you'll hit the 100 lb mark.

I agree with Jmb & J :) You outlined why you were successful & 8 months IS phenomenal! You are an exception to the rule because the majority of people give up however when ones FOLLOW the RULES the results can be TYPICAL :) Just today I posted an UPDATE in Shorties Losing It mentioning that 5 others you may know here in our fatsecret community,& 1 imparticular, who have reached their goal of maintaining the weight they have set for themselves. PROOF that the results YOU accomplished IS typical. :)

thank you so much for the kind words that you posted here there's one thought that came to my mind and that is if you have problems with depression you might experience more depression than normal I might theory is that to changes and and there is chemical imbalances that might occur so just be aware of this when you start making a life style change your eating habits again thank you for your kind comments

Hoosier, you are so right about the depression and I think it is true with any emotion that you might have been surpressing with food, whether it is anxiety, fear, boredom, or whatever. When you take the food away, you have to deal with the underlying issue. It is good to be prepared for this to happen so it doesn't throw you back into your bad habit cycle. I think this is where a lot of people get derailed. Losing weight requires a lot of emotional work. Great job -- our losses mirror each other. We started at almost the same time and have lost almost exactly the same amount, so I like to watch your journal. Your success encourages me to keep going, too. :)
