flaxseed's Journal, 23 March 2009

Depression is setting in this morning. Weight up again from my week away and I'm struggling to keep on track. Its not 9 o'clock yet and already I'm roaming round the kitchen to see what I can find. My eating last week was wonderful at the time, but now doesn't seem worth it. I've bought my wedding outfit and I know I can't afford to put on any extra lbs or it won't fit comfortably. I know some of it is the 'coming down' from a good time, but why must my down moods involve eating because in my head I know it will make things worse not better. Why don't I listen to my head?

In times like these it is important you remember how far you have come already. Look ahead to your goal and know that if you can make it this far you can certainly continue on to your goal. You can do it!

flaxseed: You are probably quite past the depression you described...usually a day or two and you get back on track. It sounds like you had a wonderful excursion and visit with dtrs and grandtr. I love to shop and eat and it is great you allowed yourself to let go. Congrats on finding the dress for the wedding! Now you are back in focus to reach your goal by your dtr's wedding. You can do it!!! On South Beach I am not as familiar with what works to make a person full. Reflect back on days you have felt satiated and what you ate. Cook and eat that. Can you use whey protein powders and/or unsweetened cocoa with some type of sweetener? I make my own version of lattes or fancy coffees with a scoop or whey protein powder, 1 Tlb of unsweetened cocoa, and a little DiVinci sugar free syrup (can you get those in UK), coffee and a little water. This is filling and satisfying and low carb but I have never calculated the calories or fat content. Cheese can be filling along with almonds or pecans (1 oz). Again I know the carb count but not the calorie, etc. counts. You have made tremendous progress toward your wedding goal weight. Just a bit more to go and you have won this battle!!!!! Keep going! caroldiff

Sorry I'm late chiming in... I hope the blues have lifted and you're back to business! Stock that kitchen up with healthy, low-cal/fat/point treats so your roaming will not do much damage. You mentioned on my joural about not knowing what donut holes are. Well, they are a devious invention supposedly using the dough cut out of the middle of donuts. Prepared the same as the donuts. They decieve you into thinking - oh, they are cute and small - I could eat that! It's better than eating a whole donute! Then you end up eating 5 or 6 of them! Devious, I tell you. Hope you never come across them! :)

I'm also late, better late than never! A nice big bowl of fruit on your table was in order. I hope that your blue mood turned into more happiness. Congratulations on the major event!
