Today I walked at lunch but only had time for one time round the mall instead of two, so I made sure I went to the track after I got home today. Now, it was 20 degrees colder tonight than yesterday, and windy, but I'm motivated so I dressed warm, plugged in my music walk mix on my phone and went. My goal was to do 5 rounds (1.25 miles) but by the time I was almost done with round four I was getting cold. Well, here come two skinny gals, probably half my age, passing me with ease....and guess what THEY did? They didn't even make it a second round. All they did was the ONE and they QUIT !!! HAHA...guess what I got energized to do? YEP, two more !!! I did SIX !! Threw my arms up in the air like Rocky when I finished that last one !! It felt great to do that !!! It's half the 5K I'm getting ready for. Ready to go back to Curves in the morning and then to walk again before work. Happy !!!!

I also like my music mix....when you have the headphones in your ears and playing it loud, you can't hear yourself breathing heavy except between songs !! Love IHeart Radio, there's some really good songs there. :)

That is really great and so motivating! You go girl!!!!! I feel like that sometimes at night and if im tired or the weather is cold and I need groceries and I complain about it then I see thesa old ladies out there getting groceries and I tell myself come on get with it . If they can do it , you can and theyre not even complaining.

Wow, what a great story! I wish I'd run into people at the track. It's been pretty lonely both times I've gone, and it was cold and raining. Rob's right - you'll be doing the 5K before you know it!

Wow! You are so motivating! If it wasn't 0 degrees here this morning I would be out walking right now. It's suppose to warm up, so maybe I can follow your great example and get out there this afternoon. Thanks for the great story! You will be rocking it at that 5K!

I do feel better when I walk. I suggest trying it for anyone who is considering some kind of increased activity, if you are able. I cannot run, so walking is my outlet :) Thanks everyone for the encouragement !!! On IHeartRadio I listen to the "BOSTON" channel. It always starts out with a song from that wonderful band, then moves on to other similar songs from their era and slightly later. I can "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" each song, and also skip through a certain number. And it's all free :) just data usage.

More than a feeling is a great walking song! I could picture you throwing up your arms like Rocky and I cracked up...sounds like something I would do..esp in light of the fact you kicked some young'uns butts but doing 5 more laps than they did! LOL Great job!!!!!!!!!!

Erinwarrior: Walking, I find, is the best activity. It clears my mind and helps with stress. I stretch my slightly arthritic fingers as I walk and sometimes add wrist weights. If I don't feel like walking, I'll say to myself, "Just around the block," but I always do more, it feels so good. Waiting for slightly warmer weather, enjoy!
