Johanne's Journal, 07 December 2010

My case of the blues is finally lifting. I'm sure it was mostly related to how sick I got after my two Thanksgiving dinners. It lasted, truly, until yesterday. As of this morning, I have my daughter's Social Security and SSI payments straightened out. A very good friend took me out for a wonderful lunch. I have an important weaving project, that I have been putting off for sometime, well underway. Things are definitely looking up after a few very stressful weeks.

Weigh-in Thursday. I hope yesterday's indiscretions don't come back to haunt me. Today, even with my luxurious lunch and leftovers, I have done O.K. It's funny. If you had told me in March I would be this far along in my relationship to food, I wouldn't have believed you. Yesterday was the first time since July that I went so far off track, and getting back on today was absolutely no problem, or even a thought. It's a great feeling to have that kind of control. But, maybe that's the really great part. I no longer feel I HAVE to CONTROL it. It's become part of my life and feels natural now. How cool is that?

You HAVE come along way. We are amazing sometimes in spite of ourselves, aren't we?

Jo, I am glad that you are feeling better. I was wondering what was up. Happy that you are feeling more like your "new" self. "You've come a long way, baby!!" and you should be really proud of yourself!

I'm glad you're feeling better too, Jo. Winter makes me gloomy, but I've found that taking fish oil pills has seemed to help. And you do weaving projects? How cool! That's a skill I know nothing about, but I've see people working looms and it's amazing.

Babs, it is kind of amazing once we finally figure it out. Steph, I'm very proud of ALL of us. Watching each of us progress, in our own ways, is fascinating. I love this site and I love all of my buddies. Coco, I do tablet, inkle and standard weaving. Tablet is my favorite because of the infinite patterns I can design and produce, but I love them all. I do most kinds of fiber arts and have since I was very young. As I have gotten older, I have settled on weaving because I have lost some of the fine motor skills in my hands, and weaving is very forgiving of that. Also, it goes so much faster than, say, counted cross stitch or crewel embroidery. I also spin, which is very soothing and rhythmic. It's great for a dreary day with a cup of tea and a favorite movie.

You have come so far on this journey, and you are aware of how to change things. Look how far you've come already.
