How eating 2000 calories might have helped me in the long run: ...I can't believe how many calories I took in last night at an Olympics party (about 2,000)! First, I can't believe how mindlessly I was eating, or eating without strategizing (i.e., not considering what I should splurge on and what I should leave). Second, I didn't realize how many calories were in the food I thought of as "healthier options." I must have had 10 "tiny apricots dotted with cream cheese and walnuts" and 3 servings of "cream cheese fruit dip on apples." Also, I had "trail mix" for a dessert and it had dark chocolate, cranberries and almonds. So even though we made sushi, had salads, and low sugar drinks, my failure to *think* before grabbing and eating food really hurt me. Its especially unfortunate because I could have so easily made healthy choices. The good thing is that I think I have an opportunity to learn something that I can use for the rest of my life: how not to overeat at parties. Here is a website I consulted this morning.
