Cake... drool. I am craving it something bad today. Not going to have it though, I'm trying to hold off til Sept 1st lol. My husband and I made a bet that if I get to 250 by then, I won't have to do the dishes for a month. Talk about motivation!!!

I still want cake, though. Sigh.

Consider running out and getting some Atkins snack bars. I don't have them too often but when chocolate calls....

personally, I wouldn't use the snack bars. And here's why... more people than not end up stalling out in their losses, because of the artificial sweetners and sugar alcohols. I wouldn't even look forward to indulging in the cake...cause all the cravings and crap you've just been thru will be back with a vengence. It can take 2-14 days to get back into Ketosis and be burning fat. That's why it is so important to see this as a change in your overall LIFESTYLE, and begin to embrace eating more meats, proteins, healthy fats and lots of veggies! Perhaps you could have a bowl of strawberries w/ some real whipped cream as a treat in a month! Embrace the change. It's worth it! YOU are worth it!!!

Actually for me I have one slice of cake, gain a pound, and the next day I go back into losing. I don't know if it's that I weigh so much or what but I seem to lose pretty fast. I lose a pound every day, except once every 2 months where I stall for a few weeks. I honestly get concerned about losing it too fast because of loose skin, so I treat myself once every 2 months with something carby. I keep it in moderation so it doesn't undo all of my hard work :) Atkins bars don't mess up my weight loss as long as I have them once or twice a week. Maybe at some point they may stall my weight loss, but when they do I'll cut them out. I keep a close eye on my weight loss. MM strawberries and whipped cream sounds good tho...

I agree with jsfantome. the point of the eating change is to leave behind the over processed crap that got us in this predicament to begin with. It's the hypocrisy of the Atkins corporate capitalist machine. If you read ANY of Dr. Atkins books, the biggest point he has is his vehement opinion against products like the very bars his company put out there as a "nutrition option". you are better off eating foods made up of 1 word, (broccoli, ham, chicken--when they get boring, that's what basil, vinegar, and tarragon is for)--another good rule is--would you feed it to your pet? Good luck, you ARE totally worth the effort this takes!!

Thank you all for the kind words and I agree I am so worth every blood sweat and tear I put into this. It's a daily struggle and I can definitely say that I'm winning :) I agree about processed foods... I make everything I eat myself, except for once a week I allow myself a piece of fruit, or a sugar free candy, or an Atkins bar. There would be no way I would be able to stick to my low carb lifestyle otherwise... I've been on this almost a year and am looking at another year of being on induction, so I'm not all that rushed to lose a few pounds. I need to stick to it for the long haul and going that long without something that satisfies my sweet tooth once in while is just not feasible. I don't believe that people should indulge themselves everyday but once in a while is okay, it certainly won't derail you. Moderation is key :)

Absolutely moderation in all things. Sounds like you've got your mind in a good place. Your body just needs to catch up! That's cool about the dishes. I've never seen my husband do the dishes. I'm not sure he even knows where the dishwasher is! I like Carb Smart ice cream too and I don't miss bread as much as I thought I would. I'm reducing carbs and increasing protein because I am insulin resistant and don't want it to progress into diabetes. It's not as low carb as Atkins though. I really like your posts. I'm going to buddy request you. Hope that's okay. :)

I know the feeling I am craving Pizza and Donner kebabs atm! But I am sticking strong. Keep going, you can do it! I find sugar free jelly/jello kills my sweet cravings though, and usually have a few pots made up in the fridge at work.
