45 minutes for a combo of trail running, jogging, and walking intervals resulting in a damn blister on the bottom of my left foot. Damn. Any good remedies out there for healing this up FAST? Evals are in 1.5 weeks and I'm making excellent progress!

Oh - bummer. BandAid brand sells a special cushioned blister bandaid. I know exactly what you mean! I kept getting a blister on my right heel. It went away when I got better, thicker socks and New Balance shoes.

Yep, I have tried those BandAid cushioned blister things - I like them! Go get some! :) They help cushion it so you can keep running AND they help it heal faster!

The best thing I did: Didn't pop it or let it drain. Just put a hydrocolloid bandage on it (it's not really a band-aid, it's an "adhesive mass containing a dispersion of gelatin, pectin and carboxy-methylcellulose together with other polymers" that absorbs the fluid, creates a moist environment and speeds healing) They're waterproof, you don't change it until it falls off. The sticky gel pad it becames is cushion for the blister.

Thanks for all the info on this! I'll drop by the store later and grab the stuff you guys mentioned. I need to be able to get 3 more runs in before the 3rd, so I appreciate your feedback :D What's really great is in the past two weeks alone, having my normal low carb diet coupled with weight training and 3 days worth of cardio each week, I've transformed the bod! Muscled up and leaned up. Freakin awesome. You guys have helped motivate me and give me some great knowledge to achieve this. Thanks much :)

Hahaha Jess - when I first read your comment, I saw "The best thing I did: Didn't poop...." I was like, what?!? :) CJ (is that your initials or just random letters? cuz that's what I'm calling you...) - glad you are seeing such great results already! Keep after it, I'm sure you'll do great on your evals!

Erika you are digusting. As if I would ever talk about poop! But yeah, now that I re-read it...that's exactly what I see too. lol. I'm jealous of Clifford Jerome here - you're seeing results and more beefy-ness in 2 weeks? Atta boy!

Haha, that's funny. All that poop talk here on FS has you a little brainwashed! CJT are my initials; the name's Chris :D For the evals I have to pump out 57 pushups in 1 minute (check), 55 situps in 1 minute (check), have a 35 inch waist or smaller (just about), and knock out at worst a 14 minute 1.5 mile run (I have never been a runner). My biggest concern is of course the run... left knee is still not at 100% post surgery and PT... but I think as long as nothing hurts or cramps, I'm good to go on making it under 14 mins. But I'd much prefer something in the 11s or 12s, but I'll be happy enough if I pass

Hahaha; my new aka; Clifford Jerome... The Cliffster!

Sorry, I'm pretty sure you're stuck with Clifford Jerome... :) You can for SURE do a 13.5 minute mile (9:00 pace, you can handle that..) - I know you're all about wanting to run it at warp speed, but don't hurt yourself.. Also, 57 pushups in a minute?! What?! Jess can do 74 pushups in 30 seconds.. you've got some work to do..

actually E, it's 75. jk. the only push-up I am comfortable with is a push-up bra.

Oh man, I have my work cut out for me then! Don't think I can beat that just yet ;). I've been doing my runs in hilly environments as well. Lots of inclines and declines, so hopefully I can get an extra edge from that! But the blister came from the loose gravel on the trails and fireroad... caused my toes to slip back each time I pushed hard on a sprint. D'oh!

Yep, you better get to work, Cliffmeister Jerome.. Hope those gel pads can heal that blister up in a hurry!

We'll see how the foot fares today... I'll be doing an evening/night hike for a few hours!
24 May 12 by member: CJT1217
Bandage it well and be careful!!

Roger that!

The hike kicked ass! 3 hours in Briones park with lots of cinlines and declines making me work! The only foot problem I had was the new shoes digging into my acchilles tendon. If you guys dont typically hike and have a good hiking trail around, I highly encourage taking a multi-hour hike like mine, something about going slow and taking hills works great for my bod. I woke up 3 lbs lighter this morn bwahaha!

I'd love too, but with my insertional achilles tendonitis = walking/running inclines is a no-no! docs orders. :( jealous.

bummer! Hopefully that situation is remedied sooner rather than later...taking anything like glucosamine to speed recovery?
25 May 12 by member: CJT1217
just ice, 500mg anti-inflamatories 2x daily, streching a bunch, and not doing any hills or running more than 5 miles at a time. that glucosamine is on my wish list. waiting for deal.
