Started the Med diet a week ago and have lost 3 lbs. Couldn't figure out how to post weigh in from last week. Hoping that this diet will lower my cholesterol so as not to have to take meds to lower it. I'm determined to make it work this time. I find this a very delicious way to eat & usually get full!

thanks for the comment and encouragement. I can do this. I'm working on finding a partner through the website meetup.com. I just posted that I want to meet to walk 4-5 X's weekly for at least 30 min. I'm also interested in hiking, possibly trying roller blading, starting to bike ride, swimming, and other things that come our way. I don't want to travel any more than 30 min. to get somewhere to exercise because it is a time & gas waster unless I'm into having a good day of it. Changing exercise can make a difference in meeting all the body areas. Having a buddy(ies) makes a big difference to do the exercise and being accountable. I want a new lifestyle to be fit for myself, my family & most importantly for God so I can have the stamina to be helpful and a witness to others. When I was out of work I also found excuses because I was too busy looking for work. It takes mental stamina to move. I've finally found a physician to get my medication in order to give me the stamina. When my body is in better shape I believe I won't need that medication. You can do it. I noticed you have some Mediterranean recipes. I'll be checking them out so I can have a change of pace. Any ideas on how you started to drop the weight? I'm game for anything. I'm on e-diets and that is very helpful.

I'm not certain it you're talking to me, but I hope you are. I've been kind of half-heartedly trying to lose since New Years but last month my Doc said my cholesterol is way too high & I need to go on meds for it. I said NO. I'm already taking meds for blood pressure & thyroid & I told him i want to try to make some changes on my own. He agreed to give me until the end of summer. So I started praying & researching. What I came up with is the Med diet. I found a list of foods that are supposed to help lower chol., & they were a big part of the Med diet & the "flat belly diet". So Off I go. It does seem to really satisfy me. I try to stick to between 1300 & 1500 calories & as high fiber as I can do. (That's something you may want to ease into, if you're not used to a high fiber diet.) I have a bit of avocado everyday. Anyway without boring you, I've been trying to piece it together with the Lord's help. (I was nervous about giving you that scripture, but you mentioned church, so I knew you must be a Christian). I remind Him of it every morning. ;) I haven't tried most of the recipes, but they are good for this diet & sounded good to me. The baked apple was good & EASY. I'm also working on the exercise thing. Right now walking is the best for me & some weight training. I'm in awful shape! I pray you do well. LMK how you're doing.
