I gained 3 friggin pounds overnite. WTF?

Guess maybe the fried foods (chicken strips & fries) did it yesterday. But I split them with my husband, soooo.....

Needless to say, I am in a funk 😒 Do y'all have anything you tell yourself/do for yourself that helps you overcome any funkiness you feel when you gain? Nothing seems to be working today *sigh*

I tell myself that daily fluctuations don't matter as much as an overall downward trend. That I'm worth it and not to ever give up. Just keep at it!

i agree with ClarityAnn. don't let fluctuation bring you down. especially don't go on a 'guilt binge' . keeping your mindset and being posotive is the key, even if you slip, don't give up. fall 7 times? get up 8! you can do it!

Also consider water weight. what and how much did you drink? a quart of zero calorie water is still over 2#

All that works for me is planning next meals substantial and feel-good and definitely non-diety. Like lots of yummy protein and small amounts of unprocessed complex carbs on huge bed of mixed salad greens with lots of low-sugar salad dressing. 3 meals, no snacks. Total lots of calories, just focus on shifting *what* I'm eating. And having faith that 3 days off of eating junk eliminates the cravings, that it's all biological and nothing I should have to control. "Motivational " stuff does NOT work for me. Nor does forbidding or swearing off unhealthful food. Like the others say, no need to feel bad. The next meal is coming, just focus on that one. You're worth it!

Make sure you are getting 64 oz of water a day. It will help you flush those calories! 💁🏻

I tell myself that Tomorrow is a new day, one to work even harder toward my goals and one to get a fresh start again on. I am worth the effort and I will succeed, no matter what the scales say. Also those fries are murder on my weight. That is why I don't eat them anymore. Sometimes different foods react differently on different people. You have to decide which ones are ones you can't life without, and then which ones you can. Move forward, always in a positive mode.

I don't lower my calorie goals any more than their current level and I try to eat as I normally would. I drink lots of water (and i mean lots) because it really helps to... you know... move that food through you lol. I try to figure out what triggers I was put around to make me eat more to gain weight so I can learn from that. good luck to you!
