This spring I made up my mind to lose the weight. I have discovered that I can not stick to a diet of any sort that involves smaller portions of what I was cooking and eating. I have also given up the identity of being a smashing good cook. I have radically changed what I eat. There have been a lot of changes in my life and for one reason or another I do not have the kids, friends and neighbours coming over and dinner parties, picnics and baking has come to an abrupt halt. I now eat low carb diet with veggies that are low in calories, low fat proteins, little to no fruit and with an over all low calorie intake per day. I try not to eat anything that is highly processed. It has been hard to find others that are doing the same thing. I am seeking out people that are eating under five to eight hundred calories per day for inspiration. A few years ago I tried the Atkins diet but included the fat. What I found was I did not become hungry and I had no cravings. This was a real eyeopener for me. I am a meal eater that loves to snack. This time I have been eating low low carbs and low fat protein and it has worked a treat. I had another eyeopener, after I got down to 145 and tried to maintain. I went back to eating a regular diet, abandoned Fat Secrets, weigh ins and charting. However, I was getting more exercise and being more active than I had been in years ... I gained 15 pounds. This fall I went back to eating my weight reduction diet again. As I lose weight this time I am thinking and preparing myself for the time when I return to maintenance. I have learned that I must weigh in, chart and remain on a diet that is similar to my reduction diet. Now I know that my lifestyle will not ever include fresh baked baguettes, homemade pasta and pastries. I can eat avocados, cheese, beef, lamb and chicken. I can eat the things I can control. I can be healthy and active but must stay off of the sugar rollercoaster and keep up my participation in Fat Secrets.
