It seems like today started off really negative and I'm done with that nonsense so I figure I'll post a good thing too :)

Practice Wednesday night was AWESOME. My face hurt from smiling so much. I fit in well and was told repeatedly that they like what I do. Sunday should be bomb!

The kid has been a real beastie this week and I'm having trouble figuring out whats going on. I think she's bored with her class but since she can't go to Kindergarten till next year there isn't another class she can move up to. So I've devised a new strategy... tickets.

Think allowance for a 4 year old. She'll earn a ticket for doing good things instead of just trying to avoid the consequences of doing naughty things. Like this weekend for example. She was naughty yesterday to the point that the teachers actually wrote down everything and gave me a note with details. As a consequence, she lost out on going to 2 birthday parties tomorrow, plus I'm grounded because getting to play at the sitters house is a treat she lost earlier in the week also. I have plans dangit! lol

Anyway, I told her if she can earn 5 tickets today (by getting caught doing something good!) she can go tomorrow. The thing she doesn't know about is that we have a bowling party tonight too!

So last night we got her clothes out for today, she went to bed on time, and I woke her a little earlier this morning so I wouldn't need to stress about being late. She did great and it seems she has a rough time at school if she has a rough morning st home, so I'm hopeful she'll get through today ok.

Later this weekend we'll sit down together and work out other things she can earn with her tickets. TV, candy, trips to nanas, the bouncehouse... all that good fun stuff. Plus how to earn them, like a chore chart. Picking up her clothes, putting her dinner dishes away, etc. I'm rather excited!

**Update**

I really really hope this works. I called the school to check on her a little bit ago and she's been good so far today so I think she'll be alright. Yay!

THis is an awesome approach. Think of it in the same way as losing weight. If we keep focusing on all the things we can NOT do, then we are more tempted to do them. Instead, think of the things that are good for us, makes us happy and healthy, and we're more prone to focus on these things. I'm 100% sure this works the same way with Kiddo. It's a great plan. :) Also, well done on shedding the morning negativity. We can't use it for ANYTHING, can it? All it's gonna do is ruin our entire day. We can CHOOSE our mood. Would you rather have an awesome day or a crappy day? You choose. :)

Darn tootin Keld! I figure a reward system is better than a punishment one any day. There is always the knowledge that failing is an option and there are negative things that way. But if you put your energy into doing good things you're a heck of a lot less likely to endure the punishment parts because the good is more attainable! I choose to be on the positive side because negativity sucks the color from my world - and I like my rainbows.

I like that last sentence. So wise, so true. Choose your attitude, and make DAMN sure it's a happy one. Life is good, if you want it to be.

I hope your reward system continues to work, as it makes you feel better when you can focus on coming up with more rewards, rather than different ways to punish. Keep looking for the rainbows; who knows they may even lead to the elusive pot of gold, that can be enjoyed for a lifetime, into the next generation, and beyond. :-)
