Lexie37's Journal, 11 January 2012

Its time for a re-evaluation of everything in my life. First up, my diet. Something is wrong with it and it needs to be fixed. Hypothyroidism wreaks havoc on my body and my weight loss efforts. So, I began looking up more stuff to see what I can do to help it along. I found what my RBI percentages should be for someone with my condition and found that not only am I NOT getting the %'s that I need but am also eating calories WAAYY below what I should be to lose. I typically don't go above 1000 cal a day, well in someone one with what I have I should really be eating 7.5 mini meals a day all in between 250-300. Eating this amount of cals a day really scares me. My percentages should be 40% Prot, 35% low glycemic Carbs and 25% fat. I never make it to any of these numbers. I'm going to try it the way I should be trying it and see what I have to do to make this happen. What do I really have to lose anyway besides the weight? DON'T GIVE UP!

Lexie, I'm so glad you've come to this conclusion. The first week or so that you bump up your calorie content, expect to gain a little while your metabolism finds its equilibrium. After that, the weight should be all downhill. The amazing thing is what eating this way will do for all your other body systems. I've been doing it for a year and a half. I've lost weight and gotten so much healthier. I'm also hypothyroid, among many other things. You CAN and will beat it, especially if you do what you've described above. Good for you!
