Hey community!

Not good .... woke up 2-3 hours too early with peanut butter heart burn! I tripped into the jar late last night with a couple of pieces of protein/fiber bread. My week has been a mix to experimentation and some trip-ups and some enlightenment. I WI tomorrow morning....not sure I want to and might not....that scale still has such power over me.

Yesterday I had a spinal epidural...out patient at my local hospital. Love when they put you out....that feeling of take a deep breath and you feel yourself floating away!!! (ahhhh, brings me back to my "flower child days of the 60's!!! LOL ) This appointment was made before I took my fall in the house. I have a few spinal conditions which leave me in pain every day....just the severity changes.

My appt was at 2 pm, so I fasted about 11 hours before the procedure. When I woke up in the recovery area they gave me a small juice. Got home and had my coffee...this is what I missed the most. And I didn't eat and had no appetite till 8 pm when I made a egg white feta greek omelet and 1/2 avocado. So it was, if I figure it correctly, an 18 hour fast. If someone said I could fast that long I wouldn't think I could. Not sure why I wasn't 'starving'....I wasn't even hungry. I'll leave that for you guys so much more educated on the body to figure out why. :)

It's supposed to be the hottest and most humid of weekends here....stay hydrated! Which comes to mind, I have finally been drinking water. Sounds like such a simple task, but one that I always found impossible to do. Only water I took was sips to take meds. Now poor dh is tired of lugging up bottles of water!!! I think that's a good thing...well, for me.

I'm glad you're feeling better, Linny. I've always had an issue drinking water, too. I'm getting better at it, though. I find that mineral water is easier for me to drink, for some reason.

Sorry about the pain, hope you're feeling better today. I hate waking up too early in the morning, it just throws the whole day off. I started drinking water just a few years ago. I think once you start you'll be happy and just keep drinking it. Eventually, if you get into the keto thing and more into the fasting you might want to try some mineral water to keep your electrolytes up. As you get more into the HFLC diet and fasting you'll find that you don't get nearly as hungry. The body starts using the stored fat and you stay satisfied. I've done a 27 hour fast, and soon I want to go for a 36 hour.

@mskestrela and PhillySue does mineral water have a taste? the beginning of the week I was staying pretty close to my macros, and got to feeling really bad....headache, dizzy...might sound dramatic, but I felt like I was going through a withdrawal thing...didn't like the feeling at all. My fix was to have a small nuked sweet potato and some roasted chicken. Then later on, I had my Crunch Bar :(. Felt better...so I'm thinking what I was feeling was normal and I should have stayed onboard.

Mineral water has a slight natural flavor to it. I find it pleasant. You can add a slice of lemon, and it's very refreshing. If you get dizzy and headachy on IF, put 1/2 tsp of salt in room temp water (about 4 oz) and drink it all at once. It will clear those issues in minutes.
