My curiosity is peaked....what are these planned carb spikes you speak of, and what does the intermittent fasting do for you...besides that euphoria that some of you say you feel?

It isn't what you think. Carb spikes in KETO are for lifters. They are called Targeted Carb intake. They spike their carbs RIGHT before lifting or high physical exertion. It isn't worth it. And there is no euphoria involved with Keto either. Now Fasting? A round the 3 or 4 day mark, your body will flush with endorphins. But it does not last. The hunger will eventually go away too. Fasting Really is good for the body though. If done properly that is. A few of us here have a LOT of experience with it.

TCM, if I am causing you confusion, I apologize. I am combining several different protocols to get myself past the 200 lb barrier. My primary WOE is Keto, I added in Intermittent fasting and when fasting I have been having extreme mood elevation and extreme energy. I have been experimenting with Carb cycling/spikes in a moderate manner to see if I can blow past this barrier. So when I post in my journal, it could be about any of the above. All of these protocols have tons of reading material and videos...just google and read. :)

The biggest thing that Fasting does for me is reduce my insulin resistance, too many years of keeping a lot of highly refined carbs and sugar have contributed to my insulin resistance, fasting drops your insulin levels so that your body can reduce some of the insulin resistance. The best way to learn about all of that is to Google Dr. Jason Fung, you can watch his videos or simply read his blogs on his Intensive Dietary Management Blog, very informative.

Thank you for the answers! I was just curious about it, because I have noticed with myself, that if I have been going over too much in the carbs I do eat now, I tend to not feel so good in the morning......then again, it could be just because I ate too much the night before (which goes with the higher carb count, I suppose) Maybe this is a "normal" reaction to my diet though... It seems, most mornings, I feel a bit queasy but it's worse after the days I eat more. I haven't googled it yet, but I will

In my life, weight gain and over eating equals depression: physiological, not just psychological. Caloric control and low carb eating equals mood stabilization, life control and weight loss. So, my low carb life choice is more about happiness than about weight loss, although the two go hand in hand. So glad to have discovered this!
