Today was my health screening at work to maintain my discount on my health insurance. Probably more info than any of you want to know but as often this is for my reference later. My time was after pm and they wanted you to do fasting, didn't, I simply can't function well at work with no food. Had my normal smoothie and part of my bean and veggie soup for lunch. Marked not fasting on the questionnaire.

Finger stick blood work --- HDL way high they couldn't measure, LDL lower than they could measure, glucose within their low normal range for fasting 99. Triglycerides were below their low range, since high is bad they can measure that. BP was 126/74 a little high for me but I expected it as with the high pollen and mold counts I've had to up my asthma meds the past couple weeks--it's been higher when I've checked it last week. I had decreased today's doses by one as the tree pollen is decreasing. WT was 130 with jeans and a light sweater so well within my BMI and weight. Passed!!!

A few years ago the results would have been quite different. The counselor they had me talk to said it was probably a good thing I had eaten as my glucose may have been way too low by that time of the afternoon. Asked if I wanted to sign up for the health coach re: BP. I declined telling her that was normal for me when I had to increase meds and was on my taper down phase, that I worked with my doc on the asthma and the affects on my blood pressure and we have a plan to keep the meds as low as is safe for me. That exercise is normally a part of my weekly routine. Signed off on the telephone health coach.

Good news on your health screening, WFN!! I know you were pleased. They told my hubby that he had to do the telephone health coaching or his insurance would go up ... a lot! He is diabetic and has a stent, too. I guess that is why. His blood pressure is always normal and his weight is well within a normal range, too. It goes to show your eating plan has served you very well!!

Mom and Glen, several of the people in my area at work have had pretty good luck with the telephone health coaches. I know for me from my one conversation with one a couple years ago wanted to control my asthma issues from somewhere else and tried to get me to ignore my doc's recommendations. I'm lucky to have a terrific doc that works with me and is thrilled with my changes over the past 5 years. For me the coaching is not a way to go.
