diefatdie's Journal, 26 August 2011

I re-joined Gold's Gym on Monday. Got my measurements and body fat tested on Tuesday evening. 39% body fat which is up 10% from 2 years ago before I started grad school. I worked with a trainer Wednesday morning, and he confirmed my suspicion that working out only 3 times a week will not result in 30 lbs weight loss by Thanksgiving. I think a lot of people will be disappointed. If they follow the guidelines in the challenge it just won't happen. He said MAYBE it will happen working out 5 times a week with a good intensity not just walking.

I don't think I will lose 30 lbs by Thanksgiving because muscle weighs more than fat. I am going to focus on reducing my body fat percentage and overall measurements since that is a more attainable and realistic goal.

i agree with u 100 percent focusing on body fat percentage. from everything ive read if your measurements are okay then the weight will too. our ideas of the perfect weight will change as our bodies do. im trying to keep my mind open and my hopes up! my goal is 135 but i may need to do more or less i dont know. im trying to enjoy the journey and look at as a life lesson

Diefatdie, did the trainer at the gym, give you any particular guidance, on what exercise regime to do, to reduce body fat? Mine is pretty high,, between 42-44% so that is my focus.... My trainer has given me a strength and endurance programme, as I said that reducing body fat is my goal - it' so hard to reduce though - much harder than weight.
