Debbie Cousins's Journal, 28 January 2024

Well, the first day of getting on track went well. I drank two 16-oz bottles of water, walked 1.3 miles, only had SIX cans of Diet Coke, did an hour of piano practice, and kept up the dishes. Not so good (really bad, actually) is that I ate over 3,000 calories of food. I can't even remember the last time I had a vegetable or any fruit! I just put some on my shopping list. I'll start with blueberries and cantaloupe for fruits and spaghetti squash and cabbage for vegetables. It's something. Have a birthday party for my grandson tomorrow. Pizza, breadsticks, cake and ice cream. At least I don't have to cook a big meal! Just getting myself (with my husband's help) to be able to tidy and clean the house before the party will be about all I can muster. Thanks, everyone, for the support.

What a great start! Walking, cutting your soda consumption in half and adding fruit and veggies to your list are all positives! Don’t expect yourself to flip right back to how your were doing before your “stumble.” Just ease back into it slowly, giving yourself time to feel more in control. Give yourself some grace, and you’ll get there.

Sooooooooooooo glad to see that soda comsumption going down. And the water intake and walking too. Excellent. The fruits and veggies are also a great idea. Your body will love you.

You cut your Diet Coke by half! Yay you! Plus walked a mile. Definitely positive changes. Don't worry about trying to do everything at once, you'll overwhelm yourself. Keep on keeping on! We're rooting for you.

Your vulnerability is precious. May God keep you on track in the specific health related areas you are focusing on. Having a lot of stress in the home DOES affect our health in a big way. You’ve got some really clearly defined ways to move forward. You can do it…….you e proven that before.
