Toast the bread!

sorry to offended you all with my untoasted bread 😞 I read that if you toast it then the calories go up and I was trying to keep it under 250 total calories for the meal

Really, why would toasting the bread change the calorie content? I mean I understand if you had added an oil or fat or something that it would change the calorie content, but just heating the bread does...? O.o Oh dear.

Okey dokey on the toasty bread. No offense taken. 😄

great now I'm going to spend all day tomorrow researching the why our body gets more calories/energy from heated bread

I found this one livestrong.com "Toasted bread calories aren't any fewer than untoasted bread calories. Toasting also doesn't affect carbohydrates or gluten; it may lower the glycemic index of bread, which is an advantage." Idk🤷, so it's looks like OTB, should just enjoy his eggs 🥚 and toast/ or bread 🍞 in peace ✌️ but this is more fun... 😊 /Poke Looks like it just reduces the water in the bread. But I like this idea that certain cooking processes changing the glycemic index of foods very interesting 🤔 I'm going to do some more research and I'll get back with you'll. I know that if you cool cooked pasta and then eat it afterward even if you reheat it it changes the chemical structure of pasta into a resistant starch making it healthier to eat so there's some interesting dietary changes that happen to food when you cook it but I'm not sure about how this stuff works so it's really fun to read about..

Who knew OTB, that your simple breakfast would spark such a fun conversation 😉!

Ohh boy I'm sorry I sent you on a wild goose chase on toasted bread I was kidding around 😬 and this breakast was far north of 250 calories lol

Oh I was aware of that if nothing else because the eggs are not in the calories a piece no I was much more interested in the toasting versus untoasting quandary. 😊 I legitimately find those types of questions interesting. The fact that cooking things in different methods really changes how things act in the body I find it really cool. Like the pasta thing where you cook the pasta and the cool it and it changes the glycemic index into a resistant starch and so it acts differently in the body, or removing the moisture out of the bread when it toast changes the glycemic index and therefore it reacts differently to the body I find these things very interesting and things I would have never thought about had they not been brought up by others. I wasn't casting shade or confused at all I found these things very intriguing

If nothing else eggs are large 60-90 cals* each depending on how they were prepared...
