BLUF: Have to drive an hour to buy a cocktail dress for a class reunion. Not looking forward to buying a dress designed to make me look like a shapeless sweaty tent.

Ugg. I really hate plus size clothing. Dresses and blouses are cut like bags 🛍️🛍️🛍️🛍️ and make the wearer look like a shapeless box 📦📦📦. Or are “cold shoulder” styles, generating heat in the underarm area🥵🥵🥵🥵, and still shaped like a box. And are made or lined with polyester/synthetics, ensuring that all heat will be contained, and that sweat will be held against the skin.

82711. I did. I almost got one, but the lining was messed up.
Predominant styles are plain crew neck lines to showcase double chins, long sleeves everywhere (it made it below 90° this week), spaghetti straps and sequins for juniors, Calvin Klein heavy polyester winter sleeveless dresses, and satin wrap dresses. The chain bridal shop closed up a month or two back, apparently.

Uhhh i so know the feeling. Last spring was my last event i needed a dress for. I tried on a lot and then gave up. I didn't go. I hope you find something your comfortable in and go. Don't do what i did.
