Yearofhealth2023's Journal, 10 April 2023

STARTED AT 220 ON JULY 12, 2022 WHEN I HAD FULL HIP REPLACEMENT SURGERY. TODAY AM AT 150.0 AND HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING TO BREAK OUT OF THE 150’S. FIRST GOAL IS 145. SECOND GOAL IS 140 AND FINAL GOAL IS 135. IM BREAKING THESE LAST 15 POUNDS UP INTO SEGMENTS FOR MY SANITY 🤪. THANK YOU ALL IN THIS COMMUNITY AND WISH ME LUCK ON THIS LAST LEG OF THE JOURNEY (WHICH IS REALLY ONY THE BEGINNING OF THE REST THAT IS YET TO COME!)

HOLY SMOKES THANK YOU ALL!! Finch bird what i did was journal all my food water and excercise. IVE been a runner all my life albeit not a great one and started lifting weights at 18 so over 40 years ago. I’m pretty tall at 5’9 and my weight has fluctuated from 135 to 150 most of my life till i got sick 8 years ago. So i did what i always did previously. I focused on trying to get as close to 100 grams of protein, limited white carbs and no refined sugar for the most part which is tough because I LOVE ICE CREAM!! Once i started my recovery and could walk I pushed myself to go as far as physical therapist and surgeon would allow and also pushed for 3X a week physical therapy which has subsequently transitioned to a trainer. My husband is and always has been an athlete so we have a full gym in our house but I wouldn’t use it. I need accountability and meeting a trainer requires me to show up. Much easier to say no to my beloved husband😂. It also helps that he is supportive so no foods that are threatening to me such as chocolate and chips in the house. I’m a sugar/bad food addict. Legitimately. Took me this long to say it out loud. I’m not dieting just being careful, tho i am calorie counting. My adrenals don’t function properly and I’m missing a gene that helps with metabolism so i have to be very careful. I don’t eat anything with a cute face (cows, pigs, lamb etc) so protein can at times be tricky. Motion is lotion. Move every day, break a sweat and if you have a bad day its ok do better the next day. Gosh, thanks to all of you for your comments. Diana 1234 thank you I FEEL great! And lilkazzy I’m not sure what you mean by sponge but i would say definitely not. Ps. Otb123 and the unhealthy daddy and shrewdness are really fun for me to read🥰

Incredibly motivating, maybe a little intimidating, since I’m just starting my journey. 192 today. Goal weight 135. My first goal is 180. I’ve struggled with my weight for most of my life. I’m in my 60s and want to enjoy this chapter. So, here goes nothing.

Great work and that is what I did. Set mini goals and of course the closer you get it gets harder. I actually took off 6 months between trying to lose the last 5#. I kept reminding myself of my why when I struggle. You are in the right place for support. You have gorgeous hair BTW!

Parrishpack you can do this! Just take it one day at a time. Tell yourself you are going to love yourself and your health more today than whatever unhealthy choice tempts you. And drink water when having big cravings followed by an apple. It may help move your thoughts away from bad choices. You have this!
