The weather seems to reflect my mood today. There were terrific rainstorms and winds over night. Everywhere is dripping and wet. It sounds like an orchestra tuning up when you walk in the trees and that's just what I feel like - getting myself into gear to get rid of the pounds that I gained on my wedding trip and my week of visitors.
The wedding was very enjoyable and my daughter looked beautiful. OH shed a few tears. It was quite an emotional day for him as he isn't her father (she was a teenager when we married) and she told him that although her father is still alive she considered him to be her Dad. sniff sniff.
Colleagues that I used to work with were impressed with my progress so far and it was good to catch up on news of staff and students. I think my visitors had a good time too. It was a total surprise for Graham as we met him and Daphne at Alnwick Gardens and he had no idea that we would be there - the expression on his face said it all. We took them home and the wine flowed..... We ate out quite a bit and what with morning coffees accompanied by Scottish Oatcakes and shortbread its no wonder the scales complained. They were already a bit cross that they hadn't been on holiday like Info's scales! We gave them a good tour locally and took in Scots View (don't think much of Sir Walter Scot's poetry but he had good taste in views) and Floors Castle.
I am amazed at how much weight you can put on in such a short time and how hard t is to get back ontrack. How come when I know how much better I feel when I eat properly its so had to do it. That little voice that says 'a bit of .... won't hurt' is very insistant and I know if I don't take control again I'll be back where I started. Now that my goal of the wedding has gone I'm feeling down and finding it hard to stay focussed. I know what to do - I've just got to get on with it! Have a happy healthy eating day everyone
