Good Morning Tuesday!

No uptick on the scale today since adding in more calories for past 4 days. Hopefully the downward movement will kick in here soon. Would like to lose a couple of lbs this month which means I have to go down 4 to do that this month. Will see.

Weather is starting to get hot, going to be in 90's tomorrow and Thursday and then some more thunderstorms I would imagine as is the usual course.

So, I have to unload this pet peeve I have around this time of the year. Highschool graduation time is upon us. Many of you know I have a massive family with about 60 first cousins. Of course, many of them have children who are now of grad age. Now, I check the mail and have 6 grad announcements. I don't know about you, but I feel obligated to send a "$$gift" for having received the announcement, mind you, no invitation to the event (I know they are limited usually to how many they can invite), no party to celebrate the occasion. Now here is the good part, I don't even know some of these kids. They are usually too busy with their friends to attend any family events, funerals, birthday parties,or holidays and I probably wouldn't even know them if I passed them on the street. Yes, I will send them each $50 and shut up about it but I wish folks would invest in Miss Manners book of etiquette for future use....hey maybe I will send them each a copy for their grad gift (hee-hee)! and...no I don't have kids so no chance of reciprocation here!

I don't usually rave about stuff like this but it was just bugging me this morning. Gotta go and write out cards and insert all the $50 dollar bills I got at the bank yesterday. TTFN!

Babs, I love the idea of sending a copy of "Miss Manners" to these graduates. I think it's ridiculous for those you don't know to send a asking-for-money announcement. I would write each a check, place it in between the pages of "Miss Manners" and send it to them. Then I'd watch my bank account to see if any of them even bothered to open the book and find the check. Have a terrific Tuesday, my friend!

OMG - what a cheek - a blatant "guilt me some money" and not even an invitation - I would just put the announcements back in the envelopes and return with "sender unknown" :)

lol. I got invited to a friend's fiancées graduation. We gave her a 20. I know for me and my sister's graduation we sent out invites/announcements to all of our family. And afterwards we sent thank you cards to everyone who responded and/or came to our graduation. About the weather, it's been in the 90's and 100's here for the past two weeks or so. and today the humidity is trying to kill us. ugh. Still have a few things to get done in town so I know me and Jules will have to venture out into the soupy weather. I hope yall get plenty of sunshine up there, some rain for the plants, but no nasty lightning or tornadoes.

Babs, you are much more generous than I...if I haven't seen them in years, and they don' bother to keep in touch with me, I simply send a congratulatory card...it is perfectly acceptable. If they want anything more, they can get to know me. Glad that the weight has stopped going up, and I know that you will lose that 4 pounds. Have a great day, my friend!

You are a very generous person. When I get cards from kids I've never met, they go into the circular file. Sorry but that is the way it is!

Love the Miss Manners book idea! With family invitations like that, the gift is more a gesture of friendship with the parents, IMO, even though the cash goes to the kid. You could always buy up non-dated, graduation-type gifts this year on clearance to stock up for next year's graduating group!

Babs- My daughter just graduated and I know what you mean. 50 bucks is very generous!!My daughter did get an etiquett book for a gift from my friend-it was great. You should no feel obligated to send money to everyone. I think 10 is fine for ones you do not know very well. If I send my daughters would you send a 50 back????lol We just got back from a family vacation and a 2 day college orientation-bsy busy busy and work too-that is why I have not been loggging.
