Johanne's Journal, 16 May 2011

Good Monday morning. It's an absolutely gorgeous morning out. I have no idea why. I woke up at 5:30 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I've done my first walk of the day, had my coffee and breakfast, done two loads of laundry and am about to go out and check on my plants.

I'm not sure what is going on with the weather. Last week it was like July, with weather in the nineties. Last night, they were calling for frost. The only plants I covered were the tomatoes, lemon verbena and the rosemary plants. How crazy is this?

My eating patterns are finally getting back to normal. The cravings I had from the Prednisone are pretty much gone. I've quit being so hungry all the time. I sure hope I start seeing weight loss again soon. I even resisted lemon chiffon cake at my son's last night. Anything lemon/citrus flavored is my downfall. I was very proud of myself. Of course, all the others were sitting around eating it and saying, "Ummmmm, yummmmm," just for my benefit. I felt like kicking them all in the shins!

Well, I'm off to do some more chores before I run out of energy. LOL!

Hi, Jo, just stopped by to check on you, see how your camping trip went, and make sure all is well after the storms out there today! Hope you are safe. Love you!

Hey Steph, they just lifted our tornado warnings. We have a watch until 6 p.m. This has been a strange one. The storms haven't been acting right and there have been touch downs all around us. So far, Sedalia was hit the worst. My daughter, her three kids and some of her friends ended up spending the afternoon at my house. They live in a trailer park and I'm in an earth contact. The camping trip was beautiful. We stayed in a Super-8 in Warrenton Friday night because of the downpour, but Sat., Sat. night and Sunday morning were beautiful. We packed up dry. By the time we got between Concordia and Higginsville on I-70 Sunday on the way home, we hit the southern wind-sheer from the tornadoes going through 8 miles to the north along 24 Hwy. At my house it was pouring and dropping hail. What a weather year this has been! Hope you're OK. It looks like some of this could be headed your way. I hope your visit with your son's family was great. Love you too!
