Another gorgeous day in SE North Carolina. Weight still at 170. Walked a mile and a half early this morning then an hour of weight training at the Y. Followed by an hour or so of elliptical and spinning, then an hour of water aerobics that extended another hour. A few of us just stayed in.. wading around in the pool and talking because there isn't another class right after ours. Really trying to reduce my carbs and increase the protein. I have almost convinced myself to give up the most delicious high protein bars out there...Quest. Great amount of vitamins too, but I know they are too close to 30 carbs PER BAR is just too much for my carb-sensitive diabetes to tolerate. :(

Great exercise day! I love the Quest bars, personally, and if you compare the fiber content, net carbs is very low. They taste great. But yes, if you view the carb content as too high, there may be other options. I have yet to find any as nutritionally dense as them. But - even though there are 25g of carbs in the banana nut bar I had yesterday, there also are 22g of fiber - net carb 3g. Most on market will have tons of sugar and poor ingredients.

You are exactly right, Br_E_CO, That is why I latched on to them in the first place...the most nutritional bang for your protein-bar buck! So, by now you must have guessed, OK , \O/ I'll ADMIT IT, I can't seem to stop eating them all the time! Sure, one will fit nicely into your diet, but I can easily reach for 3 or so a day. Then I start the argument with myself, "It's GOOD for you, lots of protein and vitamins / too many doesn't leave enough for the other good foods you need as well" Just too darn tasty and convenient.

ha! perfect. yeah, they are pretty tasty ... and they have so many new and different flavors now. They use to only have only the three or so flavors a year or so ago. I suppose I look at it this way, say you have two a day, there is little fat in each, compare that to a serving of nuts. You get more protein, less fat. Gotta accentuate the positive. :) Keep up the good exercise work.
