cyd69's Journal, 10 June 2014

Well today was a pretty good day and I went to Curve's and got the dishes done and I have been really good about what I ate and how much. I just know that I have to get my eating habits under control so that I can get more of this weight off. I just wish that I could control my habits better. It is the only thing that seems to be out of control in my life.

One day at a time, you will get there! Just keep trying and it will happen!

I realize what I am about to say is hard to grasp, it seemed impossible when I first began, but I hope that you will consider it... In March I had become tired of the way I was eating and felt as though I wanted a change. I wanted to lose weight, but I also wanted to feel better. I had the biggest sweet tooth. Every night I was making cookies and eating the whole batch or making trying to control myself so I looked up recipes to make a single serving of some type of dessert... but no matter what I felt like I constantly wanted more. SO, as an experiment I decided to try to stop eating sugar and flour altogether. I aimed for just 2 weeks, and when I made it there I decided to go farther. I'm still going strong! I cannot believe that I made it this far. The great thing about quitting sugar is that once you get over the cravings (took me about 3 weeks or so) you don't even desire junk food anymore! AND the amazing thing is that instead of pinpointing one thing or another (soda, candy etc) by cutting out sugar, most processed food is eliminated already! At first I did eat rather boring, and foods didnt taste great, but if you press on, eventually food tastes BETTER than it did before. Its like your taste buds wake up! Like I said, I know this seems like an overwhelming task, but if you are brave enough to TRY it, you WILL NOT regret it. Its been the best thing I have ever done. AND the ONLY thing (diet wise) that Ive been able to keep up. Kick the sugar addiction! :)

Cyd39, haven't seen you here for a little bit. It's hard to change. Baby steps and one day at a time can help. It can be a long journey but relish every small victory. Celebrate! You went to curves :YAY!!!! Your kitchen is clean: YAY!! A job accomplished! You had a good eating day ! another BIG YAY!!!! Doing things that make you feel good that you did them is a reward. Then it will carry over to the next day that you want to feel the same way. I'm feeling good I just did one of those jobs for some unknown reason I put off, but today did it almost as soon as i came home from work. Emptying the dishwasher. Now I can pop stuff in, have a clean kitchen, instead of leaving them in the sink and being upset with myself in the morning.

Hey Cyd39, we all have weak moments but the periods of you eating healthy and taking proper care of yourself need to outnumber the not so great days. Anytime you get into a continuous cycle of eating bad STOP and remember that you are more important than that and you deserve better. Even if you lapse come back stronger. It's a tough task but you can do this.

Thank you everybody I know that I have to take it one day at a time and every little step turns into a bigger step. I am really going to watch what I eat and if I want something of sweet I have Outshine fruit bars that only have 10 to 11 grams of sugar so that will help take care of that sweet tooth.
