Eidetiker's Journal, 27 April 2021

I realized that I really haven't been eating at as much of a deficit previously as I thought I was. Once I reigned in the calories things started to drop.
I don't think I can maintain a steady daily deficit, my eating habits are all over the place. Some days it's OMAD with a large deficit, other days it's high calorie meals but as long as everything averages out I can keep going in the right direction.
I also have stopped counting net carbs because of fruits and vegetables. I still eat lower carb, no 'white' or empty carbs, but I'm not going to sweat it if I eat a tomato or a banana.
Finding a WoE that works for me long term is the ultimate goal. I know I'm not able to sustain keto as my WoE but I can do something in between.

I like you strategy. Completely makes sense to do what works for you and like she_loves said, it's working for you. 👍

@she_loves thank you! It took a long time for me to realize that keto is not the answer. I really liked it because I lost a lot of weight with it before but didn't adopt it as my WoE. @jimmiepop Thanks! We'll keep going.

@ridemariel We'll get there eventually :) Just a lot of trial and error. @ccandco Thank you! So far it's been working but we'll see :)

yeah I was in the same boat here. I thought i was around the high 2000's and low 3000's before, but I tracked one day, and found out that I was packing away over 4000 per day.

There should always be room for tomatoes and bananas! Nutrition, vitamins, minerals at next to nothing in calories. Wise of you to keep searching for a WOE that you can adopt for life to keep the weight off.

Hey Eidetiker, from my countless trial & error & observations of others who tried, OMAD is actually more challenging to sustain long-term than 16:8 or Extended Fasting: Eat too much during the One Meal, you'd feel sluggish & unproductive. Eat too little, you'd feel unsatisfied and tend to snack after the meal.

Holy Cow - Look at you! Great loss today!

Yes - I eventually left keto and modified my macros to allow some fresh fruit and veggies...quality carbs is important.

@sasquatch753, yes, that's why I come back to track some days here and there. @JustBananas, I couldn't have bananas or most fruit on keto because they are high in carbs. I am much happier with my food choices now.

@Bernard.Sg - I'm only doing OMAD here and there and even though it is against a lot of conventional research saying the meal should be eaten earlier in the day, I end up eating at dinner so being sluggish & unproductive is not a problem. I'm not doing OMAD a lot, just here and there when work gets so busy I can't keep up.

@HCB Thank you! You've inspired me to do the same, I don't want to feel guilty/stressed out for having fruit here or there.

When work gets so busy, that's where Extended Fasting comes in handy :) No time to prepare 'diet food' or to eat? No problem. Make use of the busyness and distraction to skip meal for a longer duration. The body will simply switchover from using stored sugar to using the fats stored over the years/ for many years 💪

For sure at the end of the day. It is all going to be on you and what you can do. I just have to keep telling myself that. You got this though.
