HealthyBabs's Journal, 27 January 2011

So I just read the journal entry of my buddy k8ty and I feel like I read a page out of my own book of life. I went thru all the ""booze and cigarette induced feeling like crap gotta eat food (whatever I want) to make me feel better"" syndrome. My turning point was my husbands near death experience on 10/10/09 which landed him in a 3 week coma and 5 weeks in the hospital.

Go figure....who would ever think that potassium depletion to the point of non-existence in your body could have such potentially fatal effects.

I wish I knew in my 20's or even 30's what I know now in my 50's so I could have had the opportunity to turn it all around sooner. No worries though, we are getting it done together now, just wish we hadn't waited so long!

Had a great day today, lot's of snow this morning to move around, about 14 inches or so...who is counting anymore. We have a total of 70" so far this winter/average winter is about 40" and we have about 8 more potential snow producing weeks left. Hear me screaming UNCLE!

Worked from home today. My boss gave me a few scoops of her protein powder to try with a recipe for a pancake. It was 1 scoop powder,
1/4 c oats, 1/4 c egg beaters, 1/4 c water. Didn't really like it to much, it was too eggy. I like the pancake recipes I got from here better that are made with flax meal. Made up for it and prepared us a nice baked seafood dinner of salmon, scallops, tofu, green beans.
Keeping the calories a little light today, gotta get under that damn 260! Still gotta get in my exercise for the day, should NOT have waited until tonight, will do it in the am tomorrow!

Boy, we all have our own journeys that got us to this point. And we all wish we had "gotten" it sooner. But better now than later, and NOW you have it! Your're doing great Babs. Isn't nice that we have Kate to be so wise for us old folks! And you can keep all that snow! Wow, that is a lot! We're supposed to get a couple inches maybe overnite, so guess I shouldn't complain.

ceceps- it makes me happy to see some of the younger ones are getting it and doing something about it! Us old geezers will keep trucking on our journeys. Hey, wait until they get to throw menopause into the mix!

Potassium helps regulate electrolyte balance and fluid in your body and if your not getting enough either by food or multivitamin it could possibly create fluid retention. congrats on 259!
