bigbassbrent's Journal, 07 March 2014

The scale is headed in the right direction but I still have concerns about my blood sugar. I am hoping it has been a little higher the past couple of weeks because of STRESS. Last week I had the flu and still have a cough from it this week. I also am having problems with the transmission in my truck which is going to cost me $3600 that I don't have. I missed an entire week of work last week because of the flu and now two days this week because of my truck and now I will have to miss a couple days next week while my truck is being repaired. So yes, I am stressed which hopefully is causing my higher than normal blood sugar. I will continue to monitor and try not to stress out about it.

Blood Pressure 123/70
Pulse 81
Glucose 136

I did my core/abs/back workout this morning. I did it as a superset, which I liked. It was more intense and I felt that it got my heart rate up more than doing each exercise separately and resting between each set. I think I will continue to do this. I took my stats after each superset during my rest. Below are the results.

After each superset:
1. BP 142/86 pulse 119
2. BP 138/83 pulse 130
3. BP 135/78 pulse 144

Checked blood sugar 10 min after workout and it was 146. After this I drank a protein shake with yogurt so any blood sugar readings now will be off because I am no longer fasting.

30 minutes after workout: BP 108/79 pulse 106

Have a great weekend everyone!

Wow Brent sorry to hear about the expense of your truck repairs. I know that kind of strain can disrupt a lot of things. I hope your truck is up and running soon so that you can find some stress relief. Thankfully the stress is not impacting your BP#’s. Stay well Bud.

Brad. Your username drives me nuts. Every time I see it I miss the middle 'b'. :| That just will not do!

Your username is hilarious :) I often miss the middle 'b' myself :P I was told previously by my doctor that some cold medicine will show an increase in blood sugar and blood pressure.

You need to have your Hemaglobin A1c checked. You may be boarder line diabetic I would have my doctor do a work up.

LOL, yeah, I've heard it all about my nick name. I use it everywhere on the internet. I guess since we are on a weight loss site it looks even more like Big*assBrent to a lot of people. Too funny. I am indeed borderline diabetic, back in August my doc said I need to make some serious changes or I will be come full blown. That's how I ended up here on FS. Once I changed my diet by cutting the sugar and carbs, my fasting blood sugar has always been under 100 for the last 5 months. It's just been recently, since I was sick last week, that my blood sugar has been higher than normal. I also started lifting weights and increased my protein intake. I'm not sure if that plays into the mix. I went on a hour walk with the dog earlier and then ate a low carb lunch. My blood sugar right now is 122.

oh yeah, my blood pressure was high all of last week as well. I had a fever for 5 days straight. BP is back to normal now, just waiting on the blood sugar to get back down. I really appreciate everyone's comments.

I'm sure that once you start feeling better it will go down; you've already taken a big step by making positive (yet serious) changes.

Weight loss will change the world for you in the diabetes area. BP is decent. Exercise and weight loss also change the hcl:lcl ratios. It's a no brainer.

Just wanted to stop in and wish you luck with everything. It's really important for ALL of us to get our health in check. Keep up the good work, it will pay off. Have a great weekend!
