Well, i started out on the Atkins diet but truthfully I only lost 4lbs over the first month...I did have the odd glass of wine but not until I had 2.5 weeks of crappy results. I have decided to try good old calorie counting with my RDI being only 1200 calories with the intention of burning a minamum of 400 calories 5 days a week - that in itself is 2000 calories and a pound of fat is 3500 calories. If this doesnt work then there is something seriously wrong with how my body burns fat!!! ARGH. SO FRUSTRATING - however the inches have been where my losses are so i really should stop whining.

on a positive note, doing the Atkins diet has helped with a myriad of things and I will never go back to eating more than about 50 net carbs a day where I used to consume 250-300 grams of carbs a day.

PROS OF ATKINS
* hypoglycemia is completely and totally GONE after 10 years of suffering
* I no longer get tired in the afternoons from a carbo crash
* mental alertness has increased 10 fold as well as my energy levels over all
* I sleep so much better.

I have had quite a few friends whom have had amazing results doing atkins and I believe it works for a large majority of people...just not me.

It has changed my life and my view on food and I will see results eventually :)

I understand exactly what you're saying. However, 4 lbs is better than none and you probably actually lost 4 lbs of fat and not water. That in itself is quite an accomplishment. Keep going! (Next time I complain, feel free to remind me of this post, LOL)

No more than 50 net carbs per day? YIKES! That's has to be VERY difficult to do! I thought I was doing well limiting myself to between 100-150 per day! :-/ You're in a WAY different place than I am, and probably want to be! lol Baby steps... maybe someday I'll get to 50, but I'm not there yet! ;)
