geo99's Journal, 06 January 2011

Just a quick note to let everyone know what's happening. I took the last two weeks off. I just didn't want to do tracking of any kind. The neat part is that although I ate more (because of all the holiday events) I never went crazy like I used to. I know I have gained a few pounds, but it was a break that I needed. I am now back 100% and am looking forward to the next big goal. My basement is now like a gym (treadmill, bowflex, elliptical and free weights) and my whole family is working out on the equipment. We are off to Mexico in 5 weeks so am going to give it all I got till then and will take a break on the beach (without looking like a whale). I am glad to be back and hope everyone had a great holiday season. Keep on keeping on!!

Welcome back! I did the same thing over Christmas. It wasn't so much of a break from being healthy but it was a break from being tracking - which was much needed.

Welcome back George! Hope your holidays were full of cheer! I too gained a bit over the Holidays but we will control this and get things back on track and head off full steam into 2011. Maybe the little bump in intake is what we needed! I am in envy of your home gym I gotta say!! I can't wait to head towards attaining our goals in the coming year! Lets do this!

The greatest thing about "letting go" over the holidays is seeing how much the idea of "letting go" has changed. Last year it may have been 2 dozen cookies and a gallon of milk and this year its 8 cookies and two glasses of milk....You are doing fantastic keep it up!

This was exactly my experience -- "letting go" meant something completely different this year than last. It wasn't just about quantity -- it was the fact that if I went to a party on Friday night and "let go," Saturday I was back on my routine. And much of the eating out I did with friends stayed diet conscious. I haven't weighed in yet, but I really don't think I did all that much damage. Will weigh this week for sure.

Yes...we are all back with a vengence!!!! I did not handle my "letting go" this year with wreckless abandon as I had in previous years. I would say that the biggest difference for me in that this year I came back and I couldn't wait to get back!!!!!
