GlennM's Journal, 23 December 2010

Doing well, the weather is cold here - northern New England got snow, especially Maine and some snow near the coast - there's not even a dusting on the ground here. I'm hoping in the next year ahead to move. I should have moved in March this past year but the apartment was even smaller than here, but after one year I would have been able to move to a bigger place. I have been trying to find a Christmas CD I bought a few years back and can't find it and it wasn't in stores. I may order it online along with another I can't find anywhere from like twentysomething years ago. I may get pizza tomorrow and after that get stricter with what I am eating every day. I hope to get on other people's journals today...
Vocabulary word for Thursday: supercilious: ADJECTIVE - having an air of contemptuous superiority; haughty; disdainful. ------- Origin from the 16th Century from Latin.

Hi Glenn and happy Thursday to you! Beautiful day here. 62 at 6 am and should reach 75 today. We are in for a freeze on Christmas night and Sunday nite. Probably around 36-38 they say. Here come my plants, back inside again! This is getting routine this year as I don't want to lose them. I have several orchids as well as other vines that I don't want to lose. Christmas music, gosh on every station. I think I probably have about 10 Christmas CD's and believe it or not one of the best is by Clay Aiken (American Idol). I really do like his voice. He's kind of weird, but he sings very well. How are you spending Christmas, any friends with you this year? I told you last year stop by but you didn't come ~ LOL. Whatever you do, please, MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM MY FAMILY TO YOU. Thank you for being a good buddy and please don't stop the vocabulary words. You are teaching me! Enjoy the day Glenn!

I am staying home that day, my friends will be busy. I have like thirty Christmas CDs - the best are the Now Christmas ones, I like Dan Folgelberg's - I have one - it is medieval-sounding as is the too short one by Heart, which is good too. A few years back I heard one of the best Christmas songs, it was a traditional song I did not know the name of and it was by a country singer - maybe Martina McBride - but I don't have any clue what the name of it is, and I don't think it's on any of her CDs so who knows if I'll hear it again. Anyway, it is cloudy, dreary and very light snow flurries that haven't accumulated here. I have been in many warm climates at Christmas and it's better than snow and cold for me...

Hi Glenn, I want to talk about something here "I may get pizza tomorrow and after that get stricter with what I am eating every day." I don't want to sound Supercilious on FatSecret but I have found a kinder way to talk to myself about eating pizza "I ate some pizza and stayed within my R.D.I last Saturday." Peace Brother...Love yourself and the choices you make! TOWANDA!!!!!

Good idea Lisa - though I am going to eat quite a bit, normally I would have 5000 calories somewhere and this year I won't but need to start getting more exercise. I am busy doing more editing on my book, which may take an unexpected few weeks longer as there are things to add. THEN I will leave it to an agent, editor and publisher hopefully...

NN - I will recommend the Christmas CD by Martina McBride, the particular song I heard ONCE about presents or something is not on there - I'm fairly certain it was by her but may be on some compilation album. She has a great voice for the music and I am listening to the CD now and it is better than most...

Hi Glenn! Don't forget to check for the CD under "New and Used" in Amazon, if you are lucky you might be able to get it for a few cents plus the $3.99 shipping. I'm surprised to hear that you haven't had much snow up there as I was under the impression that the area was a disaster zone, but I'm glad that you haven't had to go through that. Pizza sounds good! Have a great day buddy!

It has snowed in eastern and northern New England. I believe Connecticut and much of western Massachusetts except way up in the Berkshires near Pittsfield is without snow. They got lake-effect snows up in the Berkshires recently and it is a few inches on the ground at least. I don't ski so don't care for the snow, but may be moving near a big hill that has been a sledding site for more than a hundred years so if I move up there by next year I will turn into a kid again and get some type of sledding device. There is no snow there now, it's about a mile-plus away from here and it will be a minute walk if I move up there. Yes, info, I have bought CDs used from reputable music sellers like stores. The local WalMart is dreadful for music, the shelves are half-empty, just Susan Boyle's Christmas CD there - nothing else - and I'm not ready for a nursing home yet so won't buy it. Her fan base is elderly women mostly. My friend Shawn took me out last night for a fish dinner that was expensive, I will pay him back next month. I overate to put it mildly. I did bring some of the food home and will have it for lunch this Friday. The dog unfortunately is a bit constipated - she needs longer walks probably - and so I added a little olive oil to her food and will add water to her canned food as she doesn't drink water much, I always have a bowl down for her. I really like the "Do You Hear What I Hear?" by Whitney Houston, and it is only on one CD and I have been unable to find it along with the Now Christmas Vol. 2 - in my opinion the best of the four or however many there are, I did have it but can't find it now, so eventually I will go to Amazon... Have a great Christmas Eve everyone. I will try to get on journals today and post a vocabulary word later...
