Time for some new goals... And here's a look at the ol' spreadsheet to help me figure it out. I've decided to do some real / hard goals this time. The spreadsheet has been so accurate with its projections (the purple dotted line in the image below), that I've decided to use those as my goals. Ugh. It's going to hurt if they aren't right any more. Hah! We'll have to see how it goes.

Anyway, a quick explanation. The green dotted line shows what losing 2.5 lbs a week would do. The red dotted line 4 lbs. The purple dotted line is the series of projections, which have been very accurate since about 9/11 (once my diet / metabolism stabilized out). Dark blue stars are goals I have met, light blue stars are goals I am setting for the future.

Clear as mud, right?

Sorry... leave it to us tech guys to get all complicated. But since this thing has been helping me keep on track, I figure I'll keep using what works. Well, I do think it is going to be **very tough** to make these goals, and I promise to not get disheartened if I just can't do it. But these are my guideline going forward.

I doubt this post will help anyone but me, but I'm putting it out there to force myself to stay on track. As always, thanks all of you!!!

It would be so perfect if you and I make it there at the same time, Bill! The race is on! This is going to be good (and good for both of us)! :D

K. I just want to say you made my day with that. Seriously. All of a sudden I'm so excited. I want us both to hit this out of the park. Anyway, just thought I'd add that. Thanks again, Bill!!!

Wow Rob that chart is amazing! I wish I could do something like that for my own self! Have no fear you'll do it buddy! Cheers to you!

Looked at your chart and thought, OMG, another nerd. Your projections are mind boggling and I would give a lot to be able to lose 1lb. a week. But you've figured out your method to the madness. Excellent. We'll be following you and drag to see who hits their goals, then we PARTY!!!

I know, Rocker, I am a total nerd. I can't speak for Bill, but for me being a nerd on a computer all day has played a big part in getting me to the point I was. Finally, I can put these skills to do good instead of evil. :D Hey, Deb, if you have Excel, drop me a message telling me what version you've got, what period you want tracked (how far back do you have info for that you want on the sheet?), and what your goal is (at what future date). It needs weekly weigh-in numbers. I'd need your rough daily calorie goal, as it is based on calorie-burn. I could work up something like this for you. But it wouldn't have the waist / pant-size thing. I back-figured the formula for that based on my own numbers -- I'm not even sure that part will hold up over time. It's been right so far, but I have a feeling it will break-down before too long since there is no real science behind that part.

Nerd alert! LOL. I like to see that there are other numbers-geeks here. Makes me feel less odd. :) It's great to see that you set goals. This is how we reach them. Keep it up!

Rob, amazing, I also read your and Bob's comments on his journal - you two nerds are amazing. I wish I could 'do' and understand the spreadsheet thing. I understand yours, I just don't know how to do those projections and live with them. It's good to have goals. Tough maybe but you seem to like the challenge. I am using Carson's chow spread sheet for the numbers. No loss today but no gain after indulgence day yesterday so totally expect a loss tomorrow. I am hoping to be 183 something tomorrow. Can't remember what the projection of Chow is but I think it's close,. You guys are awesome.

GTM, thank you! It is kind of fun. Like a competition with myself. Keld, I'm so glad there are other nerds on here like me. I'm proud of my nerdship. Just wish that whole "and the meek shall inherit the Earth" thing would hurry up already and kick in.

Hey, Isabel! So glad that Carson Chow is working for you! I don't think I've ever heard of someone not gaining weight after an indulgence day. I can't wait to see that loss tomorrow. Crossing my fingers for you!!

Just popped in and saw your spread sheet! Dude! I am so excited for you! I love the spreadsheet and fascinated by nerds who can understand all the numbers. It's all over my head. I would rather write an English composition, or a poem, or something using the alphabet. LOL! You rock!
