SaintViper's Journal, 15 November 2010

So I was carrying in some bags of water softener salt yesterday (40lbs each, two at a time) and remembering back to last spring before I started taking care of myself. Last time I did that I was so winded that I had to stop and rest for a while. No issues like that this time. I even ran up the stairs to get the next load without even thinking about it. It seems like a little thing, but being fitter makes such a big difference in so many ways that I don't even think about.

One of my favorites is chasing the kids around the living room. It's a big room with couches in the middle, so we can do laps around them. They are getting really fast now, but have no trouble keeping up with them. Not only that, but usually they run out of steam before I do. Last spring I'd have to catch them quickly or I'd be the one running out of steam. Now they get to enjoy the chase for much longer.

Hey sometimes I think it's those little changes that really make the difference and push us to keep going. Keep up the good work!

That's for sure. I definitely plan on doing what it takes so that I don't get that way again.

Had a great swim workout today. The hour was up before I knew it and I managed to feel strong for the whole thing. Having some other people swimming laps on the pool was helpful. That fast guy from last week was there. With a little extra effort I could keep up with him today. (Having a proper swim suit instead of baggy shorts that go down to my knees probably helped a little.) I swam a bit harder than I have been lately, so having him there was great motivation.
