Well yesterday I went to the Doc to see if all my effort has been worth it. I started on this journey to avoid cholesterol reducing medications. I've lost just under 50 pounds & my Doc was very pleased. He noted that with all my efforts I've probably brouhgt down my BP as well. (Another med I want to get rid of.) I sat there calmly and smugly as they took my BP and it was 195/108. I nearly fell off the chair. I was not nervous or stressed at all. (At least up to that point I wasn't!) So my BP meds have now been doubled.

Today I came home to my Doc's voice on the phone telling me that my cholesterol is somewhat higher than when I started. Since then I have been working my way through a bowl of Halloween candy. SOMEBODY SLAP ME!!

Self, I'm reminding you that you're several sizes smaller than you were in January; your knees have completely quit hurting and you don't cringe when you look in the mirror. Oh yes, I can go down stairs like a teenager. Get a grip & be happy in this place and time. KNOCK OFF THE PITY PARTY! Get back on track & get to your goal.

I understand where you are coming from. I hike hours and hours every week, I've dropped 12 inches since May 1st...and my blood sugar levels are so close to being diabetic I have to watch everything I eat! I already eat whole grains, fresh fruit and veg, but now I have to lose 11 pounds to make the sugar go down. I was very frustrated! But then I realized what trouble I'd have been in had I NOT been being so good! It will come! You are doing this for the long term so keep your chin up and keep being healthy (and happy)! The body is sure to follow!

Thanks jorrokslack. Sounds like you understand what I was trying to say. Thanks for the cheer. :) You are so right on. Wow, 12 inches! Good for you. It's a painful & slow process, but we can & will do it!!
