GOOOOOOD MONDAY MORNIN...day 503...an wakin up to the start of another week...wakin up to 38 outside this morning an had really thought about going for a morning walk today, just a short one, but since have decided not to push the walkin for a few more days...thinkin of just takin it slow an lettin my body get the rest an heal like it needs to...before i start pushing it again...there are leaves to rake out from under the trees, so i can do that today to burn some calories...soaked up alittle sun yesterday for 30 min...was kinda cool out, but once out in the sun didnt notice the coolness as much...had a carb attack at supper last night...guess i needed it...todays a new day to get it bck in line again...layed in bed this morning second guessin what i should be doing while im waitin on my knee to get better...thinkin should i be liftin the weights, just to get a workout in, or should i be doing floor exercises and just be doing crunches, pushups, and leg lifts to keep it simple...probly get on the floor after breakfast an get limbered up...keep my body guessin as to what kind of workout is in store for it today...well guess i need to get up an go make breakfast so i can get this day started again...the nights just seem to flash by anymore...even though im up 2 or 3 times at night walkin in my sleep to the potty room...lol...ive started drinkin more water thru the day, and im sure thats helpin the pounds to come bck down even though im not really doing any kind of workouts...i was tryin on an old weddin band i had last night that lays in a drawer next to laptop...just to see if i could get it on over my finger...had to cut it off when i got a divorce several years ago...to my amazement, it slid back on almost like it did the day i put it on for the first time...so guess im loosing weight in my hands as well as everyplace else...i kno when i look at my hands, they look alot more skinner then they once did...just wish at times i was down to the maintance part of this journey...seems like i will never get to that point, but i also kno it takes time...time to change, time to make wiser food choices, time to make a habit a routine...well i need to get up an eat...and see whats in store for later...have a great day everyone...

a site to help you figure out how to do some of the exercises....

exercise demonstrations...later everyone!!!!

I really like reading your journal entries! One of my goals is to start getting up early and doing a work out before work, and it hasn't been going well so far, but you always seem to energetic and positive in the morning! I need to channel some of your spirit! :-) Keep it up, you're an inspiration!

Yep - you need to take it easy on the knee till it heals up....floor exercises are a great alternative....get some good stretching in while you're down there....! We all wish the journey was to the point where maintenance begins....but if it happened too fast....we wouldn't have built the habits of healthy choices into our daily lives....the longer it takes - the better we're gonna be at keeping it off forever this time!! You have a GREAT day darlin'....huggs....deb

I like what you said about KEEPING YOUR BODY GUESSING about what kind of work out is coming up today! That diversification with exercise has been and continues to be one of the key "Fat Secrets" for me. Wish me luck today - Buster - I will be eating lunch at one of these three sites: J Buck's - Ruby Tuesday's - or the West County Mall Food Court! Since you know St. Louis - I thought I'd give you a frame of reference! Love ya more than spice cake - Mr. Fun!

Keep hanging in there and you WILL get to maintenance! I get a little anxious sometimes too thinking that my goal seems so far away, but then I look back at how far I've come since the beginning of the year and remind myself that this thing takes TIME if you want to do it right. You are doing great! :)

Deb...I loved your comment. I wish it was maintenance time for me too but you made a great point that right now, I just don't have the habits in place for maintenance. It really does take time.

was wondering why i had gone up in weight when i was using weights during the last 2 or 3 weeks and found a question an answer to why... Q. I just started exercising to lose weight, but I've gained weight. Why did this happen? A. It's true that many people either gain a little weight or don't see any change on the scale for as long as 4-6 weeks after making a significant change in their level of exercise. This is often explained as "gaining muscle while losing fat" but that isn't quite accurate. This extra weight is usually water. When you start doing more exercise, your body begins storing more fuel in your muscle cells, where it can be used easily and quickly to fuel your workouts. The process of converting glucose (carbohydrates) into fuel that your muscles actually store and use (glycogen) requires three molecules of water for every molecule of glucose. As your muscles are building up glycogen stores, your body has to retain extra water for this purpose. That's what causes most of the initial weight gain or lack of weight loss. This is a good thing—not something to worry about. However, despite what the scale says, you are actually losing fat during this time. The extra water retention will stop once your body has adjusted to its new activity level. At that point, the scale should start moving down. You'll end up with less fat, and muscles that can handle a larger amount of work. Written by Dean Anderson, Certified Personal Trainer
