BMI for tall people?

BMI for tall and short folks is inaccurate (see this blog), yet is used for insurance elgibility, rates and other rather important things. It irks me that otherwise 'smart' people can't or won't grasp the simple concept that the formula is a poor model for body growth. I am penalized.. I should make an ADA case.

Even some of my health providers can't grasp the problem. Shouldn't surprise me as the educational system only rewards regurgitation of presented facts and not demonstration of knowledge

grr.

I can see that esp as our society is growing taller but the numbers aren't following. It's like clinging to the '8 cups of water' a day is enough - SURE if you 128lbs. Otherwise, more is needed to keep the body hydrated. Silly stuff.
