So much has happened today, in so many areas, and it truly feels like the end of the week, and end of so many troublesome areas. I had a big, important tenure meeting with the powers that be for my upcoming tenure and promotion review, and it was very good! I am so hugely relieved that I will be dealing with sensible people who value my work, and they will not entertaining the crappy politics and sabotage around it. Lots of work for the next two weeks, but it is totally manageable. I can handle long, hard work--no problemo! I'll do it gladly. As long as I don't have to deal with non-productive, emotionally-draining politics--that is the stuff that knocks me for a loop and saps all of my energy!

Followed some health-related matters (visited the dentist for annual and cleaning; also the optometrist for annual eye exam), and for my mental health and cheer, stayed out of work drama, and instead met up my colleague for a lovely dinner at my local favorite Cambodian restaurant.

To add to this nice, balance mix, I am now getting back into my clinical work, and thus, provided consultation to one client today, and it was a great session! I do so enjoy seeing and helping my clients, and am glad to get back in the field for a bit! With the research and teaching, this clinical work really rounds off well my passions, and I feel so fortunate to be able to engage in what I truly love!

My moment of realizations and gratitude of the day:
I am grateful to have a "good brain" as that is what's helping me find my passions in career and life; however, I am fast learning the lesson to "not get too caught up with that brain of mine!" (as my wise buddy, Kim said!). I am truly grateful to have some charmed aspects in my life--I just have to make sure I don't let my brain get in the way of truly appreciating them!!

In meals and points, I have tried to be vigilant, and managed to engage in a planned splurge tonight. For breakfast I had my fiber one cereal (1 pt). For lunch, I opted for a salad with walnuts and cranberries, and discarded all of the latter for their unnecessary sugar content, and also skipped the dressing, and yet it was very enjoyable and lasting! For dinner, went to the Cambodian restaurant and ordered this amazing dish with a tamarind and lemongrass based sauce, veggies, and STEAMED tofu (not fried, unlike other times). No apps, desserts, thai ice tea or vietnamese coffee--and didn't miss any of that!! I asked for brown rice, but they didn't have any, so just went ahead and had the white rice anyway (higher carbs in many, many days!). I could have stopped 3/4 way into the dish and doggie-bagged the rest, as my stomach was indicating just the right signal of fullness. However, force of habit, I did go ahead and finish it all.

As a result, I feel quite full, and now am feeling lazy to workout tonight. It's 12.20 am, so it ain't happening now!

Tomorrow, I'll do a good run, full set of weights, and a walk.

sounds like many things have worked out for you today. I'm glad you don't have to deal with negative stuff from the powers that be! it's already hard enough in your particular field, without having to deal with BS!

Glad the tenure situation is working out! What kind of clinical work do you do? What is it that you truly love? Wow...can't believe you passed up Thai Iced Tea. That's good stuff! You are doing great...sticking with a food plan, working out, and having a good attitude about it all. Keep it up! :)

Sounds like a busy but overall very productive great week. I enjoy reading your 'moment of realizations and gratitude of the day' sections. Keep up w/that! Good job in not beating yourself up for dinner. Have a great weekend! Let's chat on Sunday.

It sounds like you have your week all nicely tied up with a bow! Ok, you didn't get a workout in. We ARE allowed days off. And you have not let yourself slip out of the habit for very long in the past so it is a pretty safe bet that you will pick up the slack. No worries! I love all of the exotic restaurants you go to and the descriptions of the food. You are making me consider being more adventurous (and especially now that I live in a city where there is such a new, diverse culinary landscape to explore!). I'm loving that downward slope you're building on your chart. Keep up the great effort!

Hmm! New positive attitude AND downward sloping chart! Coincidence? I think not! I love how you are high-lighting the positives in the week and pooh-poohing the negatives (yes, I said pooh-pooh - stop snickering!). You are fabulous! Inside and out! ((((HUGS)))))

Sounds like a good, positive day and feeling like that, in itself, can be just as therapuetic as a workout. Good for you!

Great to hear that life is being good to you... that positive attitude is shining through, so you just keep it up! Your chart is looking amazing, so you just keep on tracking... don't worry about that missed exercise either -- you deserve a day off. :o)
