So lunchtime rolls around - I had no chance to get a snack earlier so I am craving some REALLY bad stuff! I'm thinking a Baconator (840 Calories) with a poutine (660 calories) for a total of 1500 calories Yikes - that's what I eat in a day!!

I ended going to Subway and getting a 6" Double Ham & Turkey - no cheese, all the veggies, pepper, Mustard & hot Sauce only- (340 Calories) and a bowl of Chicken noodle soup (110 Calories). I just saved myself 1050 calories - and I'm stuffed beyond belief and totally satisfied.

What's a poutine?

Hehe you must be American (or from somewhere other than Canada eh?). Poutine = Fries topped with gravy and cheese

Yep - American and OMG that sounds sooooo good! What kind of gravy do you put on fries beneath cheese? Chili?

Usually a brown gravy with either Motzza or white Cheddar cheese curds... But Lots of places are doing the "gourmet" poutines now like New York Fries... they do a Butter Chicken Poutine... Fries + Butter Chicken on top + cheese curds. You can definately do the chili thing but then that's just Chili Cheese Fries hehe

I like doing a healthier version at home with my KFC Gravy clone + oven fries and Cheese curds . The KFC gravy isn't terrible calorie or fat wise, but the Sodium is totally stellar (you don't want to eat it every day). Here's the recipe... It tastes IDENTICAL KFC Copycat Recipe 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 4 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1 can Campbell's chicken broth plus 1 can water 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper First make a roux by combining the oil with 1 1/2 tablespoons of flour in a medium saucepan over medium low heat. Heat the mixture for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring often, until it is a dark chocolate color. Remove the roux from the heat, add the remaining ingredients to the saucepan, and stir with wisk. Put the saucepan back over the heat, turn it up to medium, and bring the gravy to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, or until thick. (Makes about 3 cups)

That's just insane ... fries, butter chicken and cheese ... what WILL they think of next. Years ago I knew a lady who would eat fries with mayo .. (instead of catsup) and I thought 'gross' until I tried it and then I couldn't stop. I don't need new ways to fatten myself up; I'm a master at that. Poutine. Crazy!

So I googled poutine after this and that is just trouble staring back at me :-) Sounds fabulous but it WILL MAKE A MESS of my daily eating, I'm sure.

PS - I'm not knocking your food - that was a quote from wiki: Lachance is said to have exclaimed, "ça va faire une maudite poutine" ("it will make a damn mess") when asked to put a handful of curds on some french fries, hence the name.

Haha yep! And no offence taken - It should be illegal... sadly it isn't. That's why it's better to make at home - you can control how it's made ;)
