There will always be different opinions from different people on different walks in life. My motto is, "next!!!"

Dang it...yesterday I read the amino acids on one side of the whey protein containers. Now, NOW, I ought to read the vitamins section too?!?

This post gave me a hankering for a smoothie, with whey and other stuff.

Hey, before I forget, didn't Chris9753 sound like Keith George?!? I mean how many people go off the deep end of vegan-ism....or whatever the hell that 'ism' was on Angel Face's post? IDK, it seemed eerily familiar? Then again maybe I'm nuts.

Oh Chris, you funny guy. They were definitely non-alcoholic, my father was a recovering alcoholic. He used to get food from his senior center, so that's where the shakes came from. It was some off brand, but pretty much like Ensure. 😃

I've never bashed anyone for drinking smoothies but I've been bashed back for mentioning them with the mantra 'NEVER DRINK YOUR CALORIES". And there's really no way to GET the nutrients without there being calories involved. So there's that.

Facts. Supplements are not always good for you. Vegetables or fruit with every meal. As long as you keep a healthy balanced diet, stay away from “protein shakes” or whatever else.

Facts Dancering79. Alot of people eat vegetables and fruits with every meal. Some people have problems eating enough to get the vitamins and minerals there bodies require. Protein shakes are a viable solution to people who can't and just won't eat 24/7. Nothing wrong with different strokes for different folks. Not always as clear cut as you make it sound.

I stay away from store bought protein shakes simply because there is usually a high content of sugars, just like most juices. My protein powder is very low in carbs (just 4 grams per serving) so I created my own recipe by adding fruit and almond milk. Delicious and under 170 cals. Under 150cals and 6 carbs if I omit the fiber one LOL.

Oh lol seriously. I’m a snob. Like the snobiest snob. And no, I am not ok with giving protein shakes to kids. But again I am a snob who breastfed my child till he was 15m. Now, I like to prepare my shakes too.

There's a difference between being a snob and putting people down for their food choices. I don't see you doing that, Velvetee.

Dancering, can you explain how they are not good for you? I'm all ears.

I'm pretty much a whole food nut, excepting some donuts here and there, but I dang sure get my protein in a powder, mixed in apple juice for exercise. Ya'll might want to try my new Whey, 100% grass fed "Levels." Supposed to have 50% more bioavailability than my previous pea protein powder :) I got the unflavored, and it tastes amazing, in apple juice almost like a malt. I think they have flavored versions, vanilla, chocolate, didn't see a Sprinkles or pancake flavor :)

I would never meet my protein goals without my shakes and bars.

I have a protein shake just about everyday for breakfast...
4 strawberries, 1Tbsp PB, I cup spinach, 1 scoop Truefit grass fed protein. On lift days I add 1/4 oats and 1/3 banana.
If i didn't start with this I would never get close to the 80-100g I go for each day.
Some people think they are smarter than the rest of us. Not!
