Yesterday's (Friday) entry:

weight: 157.6 (no change)

Meals & Points:
Strategy: Go higher on points today, and experiment with up-ping the carbs intake to see if it would help process the proteins a little better (and thus help with the wee-bit of issue with Mr. C).

Coffee with cream (1)
Veggie patty (2), veggie stir fry, almonds (2), home-made sauce (1)
Coffee with cream (1)
1 store almond biscotti (4?)
plain Croissant (10?)
Snack: about 3 "Khakra" (4?) and "jiralu"

(In case you're wondering what this was? Well, I discovered I have about 4 bags of frozen Indian whole wheat rotis/chappatis sitting in my freezer from the days my mom was visiting me and made me tons of these rotis, i.e., bread, for me to eat with various veggies and curries. However, I don't cook Indian meals anymore coz of the hassle involved, so I decided to dry-roast these rotis and make them into a pita-chip like snack, which I did, and sprinkled some "jiralu" on these, i.e., a dry cumin and spice powder--a little high on salt, but no fat, so should be a good snack for many, many days).

Total pts: 25
(somewhat higher points; lots of carbs, and high sodium)…water about 4 liters

Exercise: 45 mins elliptical (430 K)

Was up until 3.30 am working on stuff (P.S: did you know that they have all kinds of interesting shows on TV that late at night? I had in the background PBS, and later followed by Washington Journal--and they had the most interesting discussions on there! Working late ain't so bad ;))

Among several strategies offered to me in yesterday's journal, I am definitely going to try a few and especially the one about no late night eating (which I don't do anyway), but also, no late night staying up, which would help the body get its 8 hours of fully process the foods etc., so will see if that is the magic answer!

Other than that, I'll continue working out different ways and maybe increasing the amount to shake things up a little...I found some grat books from the library and can't wait to try working out with them ("The Biggest Loser Fitness Program" which has awesome tips and pictures, and the "No Excuses Fitness Workout by Harvey Walden"). Also, I found the two French women series books..("French women don't get fat", and "French women for all seasons--a book with recipes"...Now the question is: When to find the time to read these?????!! Perhaps this will be the great incentive to wake up at 5.30 am, and catch an hour of peaceful reading on my balcony, while enjoying the sunrise over the lake!)

Have a great weekend all!!

P.S: Did you see the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony??!! I was BLOWN AWAY by the impressive technology and splendour! A little scary to see the power, prowess, talent, and money China has!! Having just seen the German Olympics exhibit at the Holocaust museum in D.C., I was reminded of the parallels...Germany wanted to showcase themselves in the Olympics before they challenged the world in WW 2....could this be China's "Show and tell" before they herald in a similar world-domination war??!! Regardless, enjoy the games! I know I will!

Good luck with all your experiments! You'll find the right combination, I'm sure. Look out for late night TV - the infomercials may suck you in. Oooh - you have a balcony overlooking a lake! Cool! Sounds like a great place to unwind. Hope you got some rest after your late hours.

That snack you made sounds really interesting! I'd love to try it. I stay up late working too. It probably would be a good idea for both of us to get a little more sleep. For me it's so nice working at night because it's SO quiet, and I'm a night person. Good luck with shaking things up! I hope it works for you! Yes, the opening ceremony was specatacular. The parallel you mentioned with Germany is kind of scary. It's probably possible, but I hope and pray that doesn't happen!! Have a great weekend!

I caught a little of the opening ceremonies and I, too, was blown away. Interesting insight into the parallels between China and Germany. Your roti based snack sounds very tasty. I'm not familiar with the type of cheese you used, though. Good job finding new strategies for success. It's always beneficial to shake things up a bit.
