TJSloan's Journal, 10 April 2013

Today has already started out with me behind! And I got up early too! I didn't get my water in yesterday, however, I did walk 2 miles in about an hour or so last night. Then went to Sonny's for dinner. I ordered the Dry Rub Rib Dinner, not the all you can eat version. Did not eat the garlic toast. YaY! I ordered the baked sweet potato and the mac and cheese. And boy did that shoot me way over my RDI. Perhaps that is why my sugar was up to 141 this morning? I somehow doubt it though.

I feel better today, though sugar was up this morning at 141. Gggrrr...if it doesn't start showing some downward movement, my Dr and I are going to have a confrontation. I broke down and agreed to let him put me on an injection (get more aggressive he says) and I'm not seeing a decline. Now, grant it, today starts my third week on this med but I think I should be seeing some good results by now. Ok, rant is done.

This week-end is the week-end we do yard work for a couple of elderly people across town. It's about 3-4 hours or so worth of work, however, I'm usually riding the riding tractor, while the hubby does the pushmower, edging and blowing. If we trim the shrubs, then I rake and pick up, while he does the trimming. Then it'll be home to do housework, laundry and later in the afternoon over to my grandmother's to set up her meds and take her on her errands. Sunday will be spent studying for Nutrition Test, finishing last diet study, and some point this week-end I will have to get our taxes done. Something tells me, I'll be ready for Monday, just so I can relax, but then next week is going to be a very busy week for me at work.

One day...I will be independently wealthy! Just you wait!

Sugar after lunch: (approx 2-3hrs) 113

Good luck on the nutrition test. Kudos to you for helping in your neighborhood. My husband and I try to do that too, however they keep insisting on paying us and if we don't take money we usually come home to find deserts in the truck. I think one time there was a whole frozen chicken. I started telling him to take the 10 bucks, I couldn't eat the deserts anymore. Don't stress your taxes, you cannot change them, just pray you have a low bill or get a refund. You will make it through this week. Don't worry about next week yet, it's just wasted energy. I should know I am a self professed worry wart.

Saw your post on the Diabetic Community board and thought that I would stop by and say Hi! I sent you a buddy request as well. I am diabetic too, but control it with food and exercise under my doctor's care. I used to be on metformin for a few years, but was able to get off of it after I did the Atkins diet plan. After 3 months on Atkins my blood sugar stabilized and my A1c was within normal range. And the doctor said she didn't need to see me 4x a year anymore, only 1x a year. After losing lots of weight, I hit a big plateau, didn't lose, didn't gain. Couldn't budge it, and was never able to go to the second stage of Atkins without gaining weight, so ended up remaining in the first stage (induction stage) for months. One day I waited too long to eat, and fell off the wagon, and the rest was history (gained it back). I have started my healthy weight loss journey once again. This time using Weight Watchers. I am struggling because my daily calorie intake was wayyyyyy too low. So lately, I have upped my calories by increasing my protein, and a little bit more fat (no more than 35 grams), and lowering my carbs (tweaking them down little by little to about 160 or less). It seems to have broke my stall, so I'm going to continue doing this. Getting plenty of protein through-out the day and of course a little fat with it, keeps us from feeling like we are starving to death. Once I would get to that point, the race is lost! LOL! I'm the type that goes all day without eating, and then be ravenous and sleep on it! So bad... I'm wishing you well in your weight loss journey. Make sure you check other buddies that I have, they will more than happily support you too! (Check out FS Buddies, Helewis, she has lost and maintained, and Kingkeld, he has done a tremendous job as well!

Kathy, thanks for the luck on the test. And trust me, we take the money. That's what we use to go see movies on the week-ends, since it's now about $40 for two to see a matinee and have refreshments at the movies these days. Taxes will be ok..I just can't believe we waited so late to do them. And trust me, most times, if I don't have something to worry about, I worry about the fact that there's nothing to worry about! lol! Cheryl, thank you so much for your support. It's so good to see and know that it can be done. That I can actually come off the diabetic medications with work and it's not just a lure they give you to push you to do right. I can't go without eating, though sometimes I've come close, but I'm working on that. I keep Fiber One brownies on hand for when I have a sweet craving and we're working on keeping other healthy snacks that are high in protein and fiber around the house. Hubby needs to lose weight too. It's a challenge, because where I can eat only a little and be satisfied, he needs more. I've seen Kingkeld around on the boards, I will definitely look them up. I have found another group that helps, Progress, Not Profection. Thanks both of you for all your support.
