dheimer's Journal, 12 October 2007

I've been out of town on business. It's been very disruptive to my diet and exercise routine. I only worked out once on the trip, and didn't work out at home either because my youngest son wanted to go to school early.

Good news on the knee front. I started taking some gloucosamine (along with the ibuprofin) and my knee seemed to improve immediately. Ironically, a few days later there was a story on the news and they said gloucosamine performs about the same as a placebo. Oh well, if only I could have purchased the less-expensive placebo... hahahah.

I attended a really nice business-related banquet Tuesday night. Great food, and it was possible, with discipline, to make healthy choices about what to eat. Not that I did, entirely. The dessert bar was amazing. I stood there looking at it and then scanned the crowd. Yes, the majority of us attending were overweight, and there we were eating like we were going to starve.

I'm back to eating right, and tomorrow I will be back on the exercise plan.

Thanks for your support and I'm sorry I haven't been on FS this week.

Welcome back! lol Sounds like you at least had some fun. :) Back in the saddle again! Good for being aware of what you had available and making the good choices you did, even if you did indulge a bit. No looking back, every bite is a new one! :)

You are changing your lifestyle, not giving up food entirely!! You will always run into these circumstances, and it sounds like you enjoyed yourself!! Enjoy the day...just don't overjoy every day!! LOL Good job though!

The disruptive nature of business trips, vacations, weekend get-aways is something that really is a problem that needs to be dealt with. I was able to use calorie counting to help but I quickly found myself recording inordinately high days. I think I need to give this a lot more thought.

I just started taking those VITAMINS as well!!!!!!! Actually about a week prior to surgery i had on 10-03............I WILL CONTINUE to take them, I am sure they are helping, i do feel better , but, of course there are some mornings i get up, the whole bottle feels like it will not help me!!!! Just kidding, i am taking them, and hope they will help us !!!! I will be faithful in remembering to take them !!!!!! It is a big problem alot of us have, i am guilty of: WE getmeds for whatever the ailment is and when we feel a bit better , we forget to take them, and BOOM, back at square one, u no!!!! ha ............Sounds like you did ok on the trip, but, now, yep, back up on the wagon, lets hope we all have a great ride on that wagon this week coming up, oh YEAH!!! HERE IS TO dheimer!!!! and ALL OF YOU who read this!!!!! Good Luck & Be happy!!!
