jaime30024's Journal, 12 November 2019

Thank you Bella for posting on my last journal entry and asking where I have been. I went back and looked and it makes sense that my last post was before going home. It was hard. I did pretty good though; going to the gym, and I got to see my daughter (she came down from Camp LeJeune. I didn't realize how hard it was going to be to go down that driveway and not see my Mama standing there on the front porch. To go into a room and want to dust and wash the walls down like she would have. It was good to see my Dad and my Stepdad and my siblings and most especially my daughter. However, it was really hard to be home and although I know my Mama is not there anymore it was so very hard to go down that driveway. It is a hump that everyone has been over for a year and one that I had to get over. I know I should have journaled when I got back because doing so I would have probably seen the inner turmoil that I have had and how it has probably factored into my struggle to get back on track. I have been trying, but not successful. I guess the one thing I can say is that it only took me around 2 months to get back here and journal instead of several months or even a year. That is a positive change.

Honestly this menopause will not allow me to be bad for long. When I haven't exercised the hot flashes just get worse...so there hasn't been a lot in a week, and I haven't been great about logging it but I have been moving (just not as much as I was or should!). The few times I have eaten really bad my body has literally kept me awake aching. So that has been curtailed and it seems that my body is reminding me "not" to do things!

So when I got back from Georgia (after Labor Day) it was back into the swing of things. I had to hope back into campaigning for the election of my council seat that I was running for. We were crazy busy with EMS/Fire calls the day after I returned home. We had an all weekend event that we worked and had to call life flight in twice. We had about 18 tone outs during September and that is outside of my regular job and council meetings and an Open House at the Fire Station. October had around 20 calls coming in and we had a Fall Festival that month and a Trunk or Treat Event. November wrapped up the election, and I have been re-elected to my position and I can take that off of my plate. The thing is with all of this running around I am BETTER when I make time for myself. There have been some days where I just ran a mile and that was only around 14 minutes of exercise, but I have to remind myself that it is OKAY to just do that. I am better for it just to get that little bit of time in.

So thank you to my 'friends' here that have continued to send me challenge invites and those 'friends' that have nudged me and checked on me. You don't know how truly amazing you are, but YOU ARE!!!!

I can say that this holiday I know again it will be shrouded with the moments of sadness, but already I can tell it will be different. I had to make myself decorate last year and I am READY to get my Christmas decorations out (even though I still have Fall out). I am ready to see Christmas this year.

I am back while I can still fit into my clothes. I am doing a virtual streak, run, walk or crawl one mile everyday from Thanksgiving to New Years....my daughter and I are doing it together. You join it and get a shirt and a couple other things....check in daily (I think). Anyway if anyone is interested in taking a look at it here is the link :) https://www.facebook.com/events/522854858459758/
