Djburney's Journal, 05 March 2013

I'm no longer obsessive about my weight and food, so I've turned to exercise...I guess there are worse things. I'm making sure to do something every day. In my head, I've committed to 30 minutes a day of strenuous exercise, but it's turning out to be more like 60 or more. It feels pretty good!

I still wake up in the morning thinking about getting on the scale, hesitate to drink too much water early in the morning hours before weighing, think about all the little mind tricks I played to get the scale to show me what I wanted. Old habits die hard! Now I only have the truth to tell me how I'm doing...how do my jeans fit today?

I just read this from Bella, who gave credit to someone else (Ruth?)...but I really love it:
When I'm hungry, I eat what I love. When I'm bored, I do something I love. When I'm lonely, I connect with someone I love. When I feel sad, I remember that I am loved.

Deb I'm so happy for you. It truly is amazing isn't it! When I first joined FS I got a little caught up in the daily weigh in, fretting every pound, worrying about what I was eating and would I retain water and what that would do on the scale and so on and it was EXHAUSTING. Once I let that go too, I find instead of doing chemistry and calculus in my head everytime I stepped on the scale, I could focus on getting healthy and staying there. GOOD for YOU!! And that very inspirational and incredible quote was from my Angel Ruth (member Ruhu) and has been one I borrowed from her and say to myself daily. So happy to read your journal today. Thank you for sharing.

You sound great!!! Love that you are loving your exercise. The jeans fitting thing makes so much more sense than the stupid piece of metal with numbers. Go you!!

That's great that you're enjoying exercise and getting in more than you even intend too! Love the quote at the end too. Too bad I love cheeseballs and cookies

Awesome about the exercise. I know too well how the obsessing can consume you. Happy that you are feeling better! Exercise sure does work wonders for well being overall!
