Well, I'm feeling a little sore today but proud of myself too. Yesterday I went to Moel Famau with my husband and son. This is a mountain in North Wales, 554 metres high. I have never been up a mountain before, or at least not on foot, so I didn't really know what to expect. Whatever I may have expected - it was worse! I panicked when we got there as right from the start the path was so steep - just getting through the car park and I was already feeling it......we'd not even started. I was SO tempted to not even try it. But I did. And I got to the top - and back down again! It took us 1hr 20 mins to get to the summit and around 45 mins to get back down again. I ached for the rest of the day and I can still feel it today. lol But I do feel proud of myself....... it didn't help that my 5 year old son got up there, back down and still had the energy to run round the garden and ride his scooter when we got home!! how do they do it????

Thanks for all the messages of support yesterday - they mean a lot to me. I will keep plugging away and I'll get there eventually :)

Hello, I've just found you through moonlites journal and requested you to be a buddy, you're doing really well and even if it's slow it is going in the right direction. It took me a year to drop a stone and now I've joined this site and I'm hoping i can get to goal this autumn. You did really well walking up that mountain i remember doing a little! one in scotland and it does take some doing, but just think it will get so much easier when the excess pounds come off, we will get there. I'll look into the area you've mentioned and might one day give it a try as we only live in Yorkshire, not too far away. All the best with it this week :)X Denise

What a wonderful accomplishment! I am sure the view must have been beautiful from the summit. That's the reward, I suppose :)

Aw, that sounded fabulous Jayne and I bet the views from the top were absolutely amazing. Alas, our "hills" in Devon aren't quite the same as your wonderful mountains in North Wales but it's a lovely sense of achievement when you reach the top isn't it. It will get easier too... I can remember last summer climbing the Tors on Dartmoor, totally out of breath and wondering if I was ever going to make it to the top! You just keep up the fabulous exercise -- just think of all the calories that mountain climbing burned. ;o) Ooh, I didn't realise that Denni was in Yorkshire... woohoo, it's nice to see some more of us in the UK! :o)
