-Diablo's Journal, 08 July 2019

Your water levels can fluctuate several pounds from day to day. If your diet is on point you should be losing 1-3 pounds per week depending on your body fat percentage. So on the low end, you're only losing .1-.2 of a pound per day. This is why people get frustrated. Body fat cannot be lost as fast as your water weight can fluctuate. You have to be patient and take your average weight after at least a week if not more to see if you're trending in the right direction before freaking out and changing your intake. Also, if you're low enough in body fat to have to lose slowly, the mirror will be a better judge than the scale on if you're on track or not. Relax.

I think I remember someone saying that the warm weather can help raise those tides. It may help explain my recent rising of the tides as well, lol.

Seems to be the case with me. When it's hot and muggy, I seem to horde water. I'm taking electrolytes now, so it's not so shockingly bad as it was before. I don't know why it works that way, but it's pretty predictable.

I sleep upstairs during the day where it is the warmest in the house and these past 1-2 weeks have been super hot in Illinois so I think I'm on to something...

Needed to hear that reinforcement today! Thanks ! I’m taking measurements as well to get some positive feedback.

Yep, that is why some scales show a gain of weight overnight.

Yes sir. That is why I never understood why some people live and die by the daily weigh ins. Too much room for fluctuation day to day and often it crushes people's spirits when they see that gain after being down the day previous.

My kid tells me this every time I freak out abut the scale moving up...which it did this morning...good timing, it's nice to hear this from someone other than my kid, who just doesn't want me to feel bad lol. I needed to hear it!

Yep, my weight bounces around up to 3 lbs a day depending on what I eat. Im very sensitive to sodium, so one salty meal can shoot me up 4 lbs in one day, and it takes a couple of days for my scripts to take it back off.

Yep, and when you eat things you are allergic to, as in the case of wheat allergy, you will gain water weight that only goes away as your system is emptied of the irritant.

Record weight daily / analyze averages weekly is one of the techniques that paid off the most for me, greatly increased the ability to make good corrections and understand what's actually going on. Trying to do it daily is counterproductive at best. It does require you to mentally detach from the daily number, that can be hard at first, but the data is invaluable and once you build up enough of it to see the real trend (about 4-6 weeks for me) then the importance of the daily number subsides.
