shiny50's Journal, 20 June 2019

After months of success, I caved yesterday and went on a true binge. It is stress related. My brother who is special need and lives 800 miles away had a grand mal seizure Tuesday and suffered a traumatic brain injury. If he lives, his quality of life and cognitive function will be greatly reduced. This is truly devastating. He is my only sibling.

I am sorry to hear about your news. For me a 'food binge' is way less destructive as other things I could do. Also, the weight fro a 1 day binge never stays, I require 2+ days to do any weight damage.

I am very sorry about your brother. If you feel like you can manage it, try to stick with your plan, your goal. Sometimes following YOUR usual daily regime is actually a stress reliever because it creates normalcy in your life. When these tragic things happen and are likely to stretch out for a while, our bodies and our brains cry for consistency.

Thank you for the kind comments and prayers. Adef-I am a recovering alcoholic and addict so, a food binge is definitely the lesser of evils. And Kenna, you are right, I went to work this afternoon and am doing much better with my diet plan today. Consistency does provide some comfort. I will call the hospital in the morning and talk to the nurses. I will decide then if I need to make the 800-mile drive or if he is stable enough to pull through this. I do know, however, he will never be the same again cognitively or retain much of his physical mobility. We don't want any heroic measures taken at this time and just want to make sure he does not suffer. I know he would not want to live like this...but we may not have a choice. My heart breaks for him...he has been through so much already

I am very sorry about your brother. Isa. 35:4,5 promises physical renewal that comes after the "Lord's" prayer is answered.(Matt. 6:9.10) Yon can put faith in the promises.
