Is it possible to gain 12 lbs in a week...(well just under)???
i did drink alot this past may 24 weekend (Queen Victoria's bday) and ate about the way i should...mind you i didnt right anything down but i did do a head count of points..not including the drinks and i got on the scale this morning and it said i was almost 12 lbs heavier...WTF???????im so pissed right now...and to top it all off now i am getting sick with a stomach virus that my 7 yr old had....im almost at the point to say F it and give up will i get it in my head again that i cant keep sabotaging myself...i am not in the mode to lose weight..i know you have to be in that mode but i have lost it and dont know how long it will take me to get with it...i havent been tracking and it stinks...well i guess i am just gonna go for the ride a bit till i get it all back in order..

Yes it's possible, but sounds like a lot of it might be water retention from the booze. Plus when women get sick they can bloat up to like 5-6 pounds. So eat right and exercise for the next day or two and I bet the scale will look way more friendly!!

My husband always shows a gain after a drinking weekend. He typically feels bloated, so its probably a combination of water weight and, depending on what you drank, all the added extra calories. But I really think a lot of it is probably more on the water retention side. Don't lose hope! Everyone goes in and out of motivation. Just the fact that you posted to the site shows that you are still in it! Don't throw in the towel! I'm an emotional eater, and I probably would be thrown into an eating frenzy if my scale did that to me. BUT….today is a new day! Hang in there! =)

ty both for the encouragement...i really need that kick in the pants....i am not going to weigh in this week only becuase i am getting the flu or something so i am not really feeling up to eating propperly or exercising....but i will do it as soon as i get better...thanks!!!!!

Hang in. as the others have mentioned a lot of it is probably water retention. I can top the 12 lbs though. I gained 15 lb in less than a week when I was pregnant. I was on a sodium free diet (the only cereal without sodium is Shredded Wheat. Nothing from tins or the deli. etc) I was so frustrated. The doctor finally figured it was time to give me water pills. I can go up 5 lbs in a night if I have eaten the wrong foods (like a bag of potato chips). I love salty foods so I really have to watch it. I know it is hard when you are not feeling well but try to give soups a chance. They are easy on the tummy and not bad calorie wise. Hope you are feeling better both physically and emotionally. We are all rooting for you.
