Djburney's Journal, 05 November 2012

I'm going to wait a few days to post my weight again. Lets just say that I am not in the 180s this morning. So far I have not been completely successful while on vacation, but I guess I could look at it in a different way...Now that I am home, I am motivated and ready to get back to it even stronger than I was before I left, which is a success in itself. In the past, I wouldn't want to go back to weight loss eating, now I can't wait.

So what I've decided to do is go on the strict HCG plan, take the shots again, and get myself down to 180 quickly. At that point, I'm going to hire a personal trainer and start working out to see if I can get some of these jiggles tightened up. I'm not sure if it is skin or fat or both, so weight training is the only way I will be able to really make a difference with it.

So that's my plan. Really. No wine. I mean it.

Now for the good parts of the weekend...I was in Missouri to see my dad, and along with that came some other relatives. I got to see my favorite (only) aunt, spent good quality time with my dad and stepmom, saw two fantastic movies (Flight and Argo), went to my grandparents 100-yr old house that my cousin who I haven't seen in 50 years brought back into the family (love her!), went to a bonfire in the woods at my stepsister's house where we sang and drank and had a wonderful fun night. The most important parts of it are my continuing loving relationship with my dad and stepmom, and the new friendships with my cousin and my stepsisters.

I think people make us happier than anything else. I love the quote, The best things in life aren't things. I am blessed.

I don't support HCG. I'm sure you've heard/read the stuff about it not actually working, and being unsafe, and are probably sick of lectures on it. So that is all I'll say. Just wanted to comment. I agree weight training is a great idea. Building muscle is great all around. I find I feel better mentally when I'm stronger physically.

Thank you for your opinion, Megan. I have a different one, obviously, since I'm using it. There are many forms of and claims about HCG out there, and I agree that some of them are hype and dangerous. I use only pharmaceutical grade HCG and I keep my calories between 650-800 instead of the 500 that are recommended by Dr. Simeons. It has helped me lose a tremendous amount of weight when nothing else worked. Since I've been off of it, I've noticed increased hunger and slower weight loss, so I'm going back on it. I've been having my blood levels of everything checked regularly, and everything has improved. Honestly, I think it has saved my life. There is a book called Weight-Loss Apocalypse by Robin Woodall that really helped me understand how it works. There is no scientific evidence that it is harmful when used correctly. I know from experience that when people believe something a certain way, such as religion, politics, and HCG, they don't usually change their minds. Just make sure you have all the information. I do agree about building muscle!

I am glad to hear you had a great time on your trip! I am with you on the tactic to go back to what worked for you to lose weight at a rapid pace to break free of a rut. I think I will do the same! Weight training can only help with respect to the jiggles, not to mention the increased muscle should help with metabolism. It might make the loss on the scale a bit more sluggish than you expect, though, so watch out for that.
